• Hurd the Sweetest sounding V6 exhaust today

I had just parked at school and I hear what sounds like the world coming to the end, I look over and see a 3.4 go by. later I talked with the girl, it was a black 93 3.4 with a 5 speed, it had black stripes over it and a T bar shifter and some other things, the muffiler turned out to be a borla, I had to ask her if it was a v6 or a v8 because it really sounded like a LT1. Anyway, that got the wheels turning,

1st, I was looking through my RKsport catalog and it was listed for $700 something, I am now on there websight and they have it listed for $925.99, I thought it would be cheeper from the factory, (I would not order from RKsport, they are naturaly over priced) but anyway.
2nd, does the 3.8 sound as good as the 3.4? I have hurd some say it sounds more mellow like the LS1.
3rd is there any hope of finding something cheeper like $5-600?

Ive got borla with rksport headers and no CAT and its really loud and sounds like an LT1 but once I get about 3k rpms then it starts to get a really raspy sound.

Exhausts on 3.4s sounds better than 3.8s. You guys with the 3.4s got us beat as far as the sound. I'm jealous.

Well i might be putting a cut out on my car soon so i will report how it sounds and try to get a sound clip for you guys. I have heard a 3.4 with no muffler and they sound good, but it just reminds me of a boat motor like an outboard evenrude with a V6.

3.8 sounds great to me. If you want the throaty rumble of a V-8...get a V-8.

Otherwise, be proud of your V-6. There is nothing like the look on a V-8 owner's face when he knows he got whooped by a 6. May as well advertise that you have a 6.

3.4's are angled at 60 degrees, thus more agressive flow/tone.

3.8's are angled at 90 degree, thus less agressive tone/flow.

I bought my borla catback new from Thunderracing.com a few months ago for $600 shipped. I've seen slightly used ones on ebay as well for like $400-$500. I haven't had mine put on yet, but I can't wait to hear it with my cai and high flow cat. Good luck

It has been awhile for me but

I got mine from THunderracing too for about $600. BUT, THE BORLA ONLY GOES TO THE S-PIPE. So, if you are upgrading the cat, get some 3" piping. And when you upgrade the cat, if you have a 2001 anyways, might as well pick up on O2 sim while you are at it to get rid of the SES light. Very, very easy to install the sim.
