dude it would be great if u could show us all that have problems, how u fixed it with pics and stuff. i think everyone would appreciate it if u could do this for us. thanks

Although, I urge you, don't just hack up the Y-Pipe right away. If yours isn't off too much, like mine, you can bend it to fit. Note, I didn't say muscle it to fit and bolt it up, I said BEND it to fit. If anyone would like a more detailed how-to, with a few pics let me know, I'll throw something up on how I did mine. That way you don't have to hack up your nice coated pipes. [/QB][/QUOTE]

pacesetter emailed me back again and now they say
hello , we have a part to fix the problem , but we need to know for sure there is a problem , unfortunatly the only way to know is to install them .

the painted piece we have to fix the parts that do have the problem , we do have , the armoro coated pieces havent come back from the coaters yet .

its pretty annoying to have to wait for the part if it does turn out to be a problem since i wont be able to drive it in the mean time.

A little write up with the pics that were taken are coming right up.

I'd say, first try to bend it, if it doesn't work, than cut it up. The place I bent mine, if it wouldn't have worked, I could have still used their peice. Either way, I'd say try to bend it first, it would look nicer than cutting it up and then rewelding it or clamping it.

Check back in an hour or something, I should have the write up posted by then.

            Alright. Here we go.

First off. Sorry, no pics after all. My mother decided to use my camera, and didn't think the pics were needed so away they went... *Sigh*

            Here is what we did.

Step 1: Measured the OD of the Y-Pipe Tubing, after the flange. Came up with aprox 2.25 inches.

Step 2: Found a block of hardwood, roughly 6 inches square.

Step 3: Took a hole saw and drilled a 2.25 inch diameter hole in the middle of this block of wood, all the way through.

Step 4: Cut the block of wood, or rather, the hole in the middle exactly in half. The halves of the block do not need to be equal so much as the 2 halves of the hole it self do.

What we have done so far is create a jig to hold the header tube in a vice. Granted, you could just put the tube in the vice, but when you tightened it you would crush the pipe and wreck the coating. This jig allows you to hold the pipe very tight without deforming it.

Step 5: Take the halves of the jig and place them around y-pipe. You want to place them on the driver's side pipe, on the side of the bend with the ball joint / flange on it. Put the Jig as close to the bend itself as you can get it without compromising the jig sitting on the pipe completely. NOTE: Make sure the plate part of the flange (The part that can slide around on the pipe) is on the open end of the pipe (Not where the 2 pipes meet.) If it is not, there is a good chance you will not be able to get it back to the correct end of the pipe after you do this procedure, as the bend it self will be bent out of round slightly.

Step 6: Clamp the Jig (With the pipe in it) into your bench vice. Really clamp it down good, you will be putting alot of force on it. I hope for you, your Y-pipe and your benche's sakes that you have a very sturdy bench. Position the Y-Pipe so you will have the most leverage possible to use on the bend near the clamp. I posiitoned the y-pipe parallel to the bench, with the inside radius of the bend facing up.

Step 7: Bend the Pipe! Apply ALOT of force to the long part of the driver's side pipe. With the other end of this pipe in the vice, you should end up opening that bend at the end of the pipe just a few degrees. That should really be all you need. We made a few small bends, pulling the pipe and jig out of the vice to see how it lined up with the headers.

As I said, you will need a LOT of force on the pipe. We had Myself, my father and my brother all pushing down on the pipe.

If you have any questions, just let me know and I'll do the best I can to clear up any points I wasn't clear enough about the first time around.

Hehe, I think I'll just wait til Pacesetter fixes the problem themselves before I put down the cash for a set of these recent "defective" headers... hope they hurry up!

                Yeah. Hehe

Sorry to say, but they are are not fixing the problem. They are just accounting for it by using an adjustable Y-Pipe.

Has anyone considered returning the defective headers for a refund if they have not installed them yet? I have not installed mine and I do not like the idea of an extra piece. Seems to me PS should replace the defective part not rig a fix.

men im with ya, i just want a Y-pipe that would fit. i havent installed mine yet, but i know it's messed up, cause i got mine in the GP. Ask them, or report there butts to Better Business Bureau, that would be funny. This is a poor excuse for a fixs, if u ask me.

I thought about doing that. But I decided that I wanted headers, but was not willing to pay what other companies charge. So I figured I'd just fix these.
