Pacesetter Woes (Last Update: 6-2) FIXED!

same here, wasn't a GP and mine are crap. i bent the y-pipe to fit and i broke my EGR hose trying to get it in the too long inlet thing.

Im completely satisfied with mine. Well, as far as pacesetter is concerned anyway. Summit shipped me coated headers but painted Y-pipe... kind of pissed about that.

Alright everyone. I'm back.

The headers are on, and I've put about 200 miles on them. Over all, I'm quite happy with them. All problems aside, they work well. Only complaint with putting them on was that the EGR tube doesn't fit. I ended up trimming it. It leaks pretty bad now though. I think I will be making a block off pipe for that port and just leaving it disconnected. This leads to my next problem. After about 100 miles the car started throwing an O2 sensor code. I haven't had time to look into it yet, but according to the number and the GM Serivce manual its one of the header sensors, not sure which one yet, didn't really look into it much, just put the car back in the garage.

So, project for tonight: fix Exhaust leak, and if need be, get a new O2 sensor.

Hmm that's interesting I have an O2 sensor code as well..... I already replaced my drivers side O2 sensor and reset my computer. Code was gone for 1/2 a day and came back. I have not looked at the cods yet but I'm almost positive it's going to be an O2 sensor code again.... Keep me posted on your problem and I'll keep you posted on mine....

On a side note I know how you can fix the EGR leak quick and easy... I used some 1200 temp cold weld that comes in a small packet. You put it on cold and then heat it up then let it set over night. I just put it on with the headers a little warm and drove it the next day. Worked for me. I can get the name of it if you want....

Sorry for the long delay in my reply. I have fixed both my o2 sensor error code and my EGR leak. To fix the leak, I just unhooked the hose and blocked off the port on the header.

For the O2 Sensor, I just replaced the passanger side header sensor, the code has not come back.

i dont want to block mine off. im thinking of using paper gasket and make one that will fit.

wow.. you guys must have bad luck.. my headers fit so perfectly.. not a damn thing wrong with mine..

Yea, I replaced eash O2 sensor on each header. No more codes.... I forgot to reply to this...

we just bought them at a bad time.

If you don't let the EGR valve recirculate burnt exhaust gas, you will likely be leaning your motor out. I would tune for it, or take off the EGR assembly all together, especially if you might be spraying later on. My $.02

i have an egr leak at the header but i dont want to remove it. i was thinking of making a gasket for it out of paper gasket sheet

Those of you who had problems with your headers, are yours ceramic coated or just painted? It shouldn't make any difference, but maybe something in the process or something. Maybe I just wanna know before I buy a set if theres any coincidneces.

the headers should be fine now. mine are coated but im not sure if its a just coated thing
