wtf who owns the corvette in your photo album if thats yours how did you afford it so young. wtf how do you have a house. and a corvette

That's not his house. It's my 3rd house. I got bored with owning 2.

Anyway. I did the dryer ducting for a while. Worked ok, but I'd be VERY careful about tearing. I wound up puncturing it at one point in time....

Seriously, if you can't run a time, don't say you run it, go to the track and not run it, then tell people you ran the claimed time anyways. IF it works! Go with it...

Honestly, I always thought that aftermarket Cold air kits and such were a bit of a rip off...

$150 for a plastic tube?

I have always made my own and been happy.

It may not look as professional, but not sure if he was trying to win a clean looking under the hood contest or anything. ITs under his hood... most people hear have some of the nastiest dirtiest make you sick to look under their hood with oil and dirt everywhere. So who cares if its a fancy looking thing or not? I rarely open my hood to people.

Its not like he cut a whole in his hood for a scoop or something.

would the games from that be comparable to a SLP or KN intake?

Also, is it the best route to make a intake that'll bend down to the bottom part of the engine to get air?

i don't see how it works, and where are the sensors the plug into the TB.. thx

All a Cold air intake does is increase the air flow and move the ari filter to a colder area.

ITs not some super high tech billion dollar research project. Its just a bigger then stock tube that relocates the filter to a colder location.

Their may be a slight difference in power over a bought one vs. his dryer duct one, but its most likely negligible. Only difference is a bought one the air flow is smootehr while his is a little more bumpy, and causes a little more resistance. But we are talking like less then 1 hp difference here. I mean is it gonna make that big of a difference? Probably not. But its a bigger tube and gonna make more power over stock. Its not "show quality" but 90% of the people don't "show" their cars, especially under the hood.

A good example for us 98+ guys...

here is a smooth bellow kit from SLP.

http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...&SHOWEMAIL=Off

$49.95 + $8.95 shipping.

Great deal...

No I bought a 3 in to 3 in. PVC coupling. $0.98 at Home depot. Then 3 hose clamps. ~$3.50 for them all...

So less then $5 I made this.
http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...05_81_full.jpg
http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...05_82_full.jpg

I shaved a ring out of the middle just for a little more flow, from eyeball look, mine is bigger then a slp unit so allows more airflow.
-Did it need a little finessing to get on?
yep.
-Does it not make as much power?
Hard to tell but looks bigger.
-Do I think it is much better then an slp smooth bellows just because of the price?
HELL YA!

On my 94 I was able to make a CAI, didn't go into the fender but it was a huge gain over stock.

http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...05_66_full.jpg

It had 3in piping from TB to filter. People dogged it and said "Its not as efficient" "GO buy a real CAI"

It gave me huge gains over stock, and cost me like $50-60 to make, $40 of it was the filter.

see, i like yours. its clean looking and if you painted black it would look even better. but, the air duct was a bad move in my opinion. i think he should go back and do what you did.
