Anybody tried the "G2 LS1 High-Flow Airlid" for 98+ V6's. Part#G2-LS1-108V6.

They make a version for the v6, the ls1 lid as I recall is angled differantly than the 6 lid is. The throttle bodies are totally differant thus I believe that the lids are also differant. As I understand it, the Whisper Lid and G2 lid, and pretty much all of the other lids, are nearly identical. The difference between the LS1 and V6 lids are that the LS1 TB is mounted in the center of the engine, and the center of the lid. I have the G2 lid. Although i never had the whisper lid i like the G2 alot. Easy install, looks great, fit perfect. I read a post once about lower cost lids not having a spot molded for a sensor. I decided not to risk the hassle.
Mine came packaged with a K&N filter which priced out better than seperate or from a parts store, even with shipping. Got it from L&M performance. I highly recommend it [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

Thanks for the info! OZ do you happen to have any pics of it installed?
I thought about doing a C.A.I. but I saw it kinda blocks air from going through the radiator by the pics. Is it really worth it on a cai? Any known problems with them?Thanks, <br />JAM<p>02 Firebird GT

Sorry, no pics. It does look good tho. Gloss black with white cursive lettering. It could not have been easier to install. I don't have a digital camera( would'nt know how to post pics anyways!)
As for the CAI, i did notice improvements over stock at 30+ MPH. It's not a seat of the pants, off the line mod.Improving your air intake seems to enhance other mods. Like a chip or exhaust.
It does not block the radiator, no overheating problems or anything like that. Do a search and i think you will find most people think its a worthwhile, safe mod and almost everybody's first. You can buy a used one pretty cheap. I bought new because of the seals for the airbox. After buying mine i saw you can get those seals at any hardware store.Make sure you get the instructions tho!
I strongly suggest you do a search for "cold air intake". Make up your own mind

My G2 lid and the K&N filter came as a package from L&M performance. I priced it out and it was cheaper than buying seperate or from a parts store.
I've seen K&N Vs. Holley posts B4. Reviews seem about even. IMHO it's just an air filter. You are'nt going to be able to tell the diff between the two. I think the Holley is cheaper.
On the box that my K&N came in they had a bar chart showing air flow comparisons. The K&N flows marginally better than a brand new cheap paper filter.It's as the paper filter gets older that it's air flow deteriorates faster than the K&N.Using their own advertising you could assume that when changing your paper filter more often than normal you can achieve similar results.

Yeah seems like they are both paper filters for around 50 bucks. I figure if I am going to spend that much I might as well get the one that flows the best. :D
I read on on the CAI. Seems like some folks brought up the point about getting water in the engine. I didn't think of that. We do get lots of rain here. Maybe that wouldn't be a good mod for me?Thanks, <br />JAM<p>02 Firebird GT

My car is more of a toy than a daily driver so i did'nt worry about that too much. The only water i think you would have to worry about would be at the car wash. The Underbody flush would shoot water straight up into it!
I don't think anybody has posted anything about taking their's back off cause of rain. Looking at mine after the install, the open end is quite away's from the ground. It does not go as low as the radiator. That's It! I'm gonna buy a digital camera!

P.S i was'nt quite accurate about the K&N. After posting i rechecked the box. The graph shows
New K & N = 887 cfm
New Paper = 508 cfm
Dirty K & N (44k miles)= 463 cfm

Nope.
Going to Mexico in two weeks, i will probably buy one before then. There are alot to choose from!
