  • REALLY STUMPED, HELP PLEASE

i think there is something wrong with my exhaust, every once in a while ill hit a bump or something in the road and my exhaust seems to make a thump or something not really a rattle more of a thump, now today when i started my car up the exhaust made another thump like it was loose or something when it moved?? I looked underneath, hangers and stuff seem somewhat secure. What is going on??? What should I be looking for???? Guys please help it seems to get worse!!

They are designed to sway back and forth. When i got my new tips, it made it heaver so it would swing more and hit the side of the car when i went over bumps. I just had the shop put another bracket on.

Go wiggle the tips left and right. Mine was the pipe comming out of the muffler hitting on the passanger side finder thing.

If you can get it on a lift and hit it up. You'll find that it's banging somewhere. Mine was banging against the new torque arm I put on. Well, the plate that was holding the torque arm, it's hard to explain. My exhaust is 3 inches though. I think most of the time the problem is over the axle. If it's ideling and hitting then you should probably take care of that pretty quick. You don't want to bust your exhaust pipe open or something else for that matter.

If you get under the car and hit the pipe and see where it's hitting come back and explain where it's at. You could need another hanger but you might need some custom pipe work. I'm sure if you took it to an exhaust shop they would know how to take care of it though, so you might want to go that route instead of messing around.
