• How many ponies ?

I was wondering about how many bow tie ponies can i get if i get a flowmaster 40 series muffler with 3 inch duel outlets?

3 inch will change your torque curve... realistically 3-7 hp gain probably... unless you are using some other power adders

3-7 probably is a realistic gain. When I put my 80-series on though, I noticed a big difference in top end acceleration and how the car picks up from a roll. Keep in mind that when you're modifying your exhaust the added hp isn't the only goodie: the car will sound very nice!

Not even that much on a muffler. Conservatively and respectively maybe 3-5rwhp.

let's just say that with most simple mods like this, the SOTP meter seems to be a bit mental. i honestly don't think exhaust (unless it's a really good system or a complete system) mods can be felt SOTP truthfully.

i have the opposite mentality than most people. instead of looking for the power so much harder and actually "feeling" it, i tend to not see the power as much because i'm looking so hard. it's relaly hard to ever tell if your car has more power after doing a light mod. it's always best to race someone that you know how you usually do up against. if you do better, maybe you gained a few ponies. that's the best performance gain meter--well, that's free. obviously there is a dyno

I agree with Only4U. I never felt a difference until I went to the track and saw lower numbers.

Well, actually a lot of people are going from their stock one outlet muffler to free-flowing dual outlet muffler with larger diam. rear section pipes, so that's why we get questions like this.
