i had the edelbrock catback before my spintech and the edelbrock is good. the reason why i changed mufflers is the edelbrock broke from rust on the outlets. in oklahoma we had a couple of bad winters in the years after the install and i guess the salt used on the roads corroded it. but it is nice sounding and inexpensive. the only complaint is the packing burns out after a couple of years and will get louder. at idle this makes it awesome, at wot it starts to buzz. granted the spintech will do this as all exhaust on our cars will, but the spintech actually gets a little quieter at wot. so you know you can get the edelbrock system and if it brakes just switch out mufflers to whatever and that way you can try out a new sound.

The only complaint I can make is no supplied tips :(
So, I was able to choose the ones I want and have them welded on.
Other than that everything is fine

When you say no rice - do you mean at idle revving or driving around and such?

I've only heard of one maybe two bad comments about the edelbrock on this forum, ricey at high rpm something like that. I've yet to hear a soundclip of it on a typical 3.8L. I've seen about an equal number of comments regarding the hooker system with not a single negative post about it. I know that when I had my z28 that was a serious consideration because of the sound quality and modest performance gains. I'd like to hear the two side-by-side on a 3.8L, via sound clips, before making a final decision.

soundclips dont usually do any exhaust justice, the sound will vary from different quality of microphones :(

I do agree with you on this, although from what I can tell on LT1s the Hooker system is much more raw sounding while the edelbrock is a little more refined. I just don't want a smooth exhaust tone like what the dynomax gives - its too boomy for my tastes and gives me a headache... I liked my flowmaster, Im just looking for something of higher quality

with the flows both...at idle it would start ricing at about 2g's under power it would rice around 2500....but take into consideration this want the cat back...I spent 60$ on a 40 series and used my stock pipes....but I have also heard it on black97cams car....he bought the catback...still not as nice....much louder yes...but Id rather be quieter and have a nicer sound

edelbrock is good...my friend has it. one of the best sounding cat-back sys on the market for our cars. if you are looking for a quiet cat-back, don't get it, but if you want something pretty loud that sounds good, it's a good choice.

from what i've heard in person...

flowmasters =
dynomax =
v8 take-offs =
edelbrock =

haven't heard any other stuff on v6's that i KNEW what it was, but have heard several with all of these types and this is how i would rate them. flows aren't that bad, but they are way overused and overrated.
