• Anyone measure backpressure of cat-backs?

I took some measurements of the back pressure created by my turbo and then by the stock cat back. The stock pipes and muffler after the cat adds 10psi of back pressure for me. Anyone taken any measurements of any aftermarket systems and know how much they add?

ehh, back pressure is a myth. if you are running stock exhaust get that ***** off there and let that turbo breath! Get a 3" turbo back system without a cat. converter. If you want some extra power get a cutout installed in place of the cat. For a muffler get either a Flowmaster 80 Series or even a Borla Loudmouth resonator. Trust me, you'll love it either way. Personally, I'd do the Flowmaster. Sure people say its more restrictive than the loudmouth, but it sounds a ****load better~!

99 'Bird 3.8l/ Stock cat and a 80 series Flowmaster I measured it at 3.5 @4000rpms
Then I cut the POS off and run probably around .5
with the cat delete and 80 series flowmaster.

depends on muffler, piping size, and amount of bends in it. Resonators cause much less backpressure than convertional mufflers, but don't tune of sound as well as mufflers do. have the piping matched to the outlet diameter of the turbo, or slightly larger for the wastegate. if you want it quieter w/ very low backpressure, then put a long resonator or 2 in place of the I-pipe under the car.
