  • How to get rid of pop when reving?

I have a dynomax superturbo, i get up to about 5000 rpms if i rev it up, then when i let off the gas, it pops once or twice. What would cure this?

A resonator of some sort, most people recommend the dynomax bullet muffler, but a glasspack would work just as well.

What size exhaust tips are you running?

Going to a slightly smaller tip would probably cure it.

its gonna happen if you rev in neutral or park reguardless what pipes, muffler, resonator you have. You dont want a resonator with a superturbo, its gonna be absolutely silent, and the power you get outta the muffler will go bye bye with the resonator in. You might want to look into intake mods to get more air flowing through. But I dont think there is a system out there that doesnt make some kinda pop on the way down from 5K. On a side note. you think a pop is annoying with the muffler on. I was racing and got up to the top of second and had to let off, my cutout was open and BANG! The pop/backfire sounded like a freakin gunshot. Scared the hell outta the people I was passing.

Oh well. I rambled long enough. Just try not to rev to 5k.. I dont think its too good for the motor anyway.

pewter2k1, i see in your sig you are getting slp headers/y pipe. how much is that going to cost ya?
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

exactly...it just wastes gas and makes ya sound bad.

Get a V8 and have fun revving instead. :D

Getting bigger pipes and headers would probably cure it altogether. A cutout will get rid of a lot of the problem.

The SLP system I am getting is off of a limited production 1 of 200 SS 3.8L SLP cars. I am getting it for free from my buddy who owned one and took them off when he sold it. Its a shorty, with same length pipes and mandrel y pipe, dual hi-flow cats to a 3" stainless exhaust, will keep the dynomak and tips.
