Yes, the airbox is stock. No I didn't block anything off, I Just covered my engine bay and hood with a tarp, took an air tool(had a steel plate on the end) and cut 2 holes on each side. Then I smoothed the edges, taped them off with black duct tape, then bought fencing and put it on the front to make it look a little better & to keep leaves and larger objects from coming through my hood.
The only other mods I have on my car is a CAI and K&N filter, the CAI sucks air from below my radiator.

Awesome, how about the amount of time it took you?
2000 3800 II V6 Firebird<br />various small mods, bigger stuff later.
I cut the holes so the air could travel striaght into the engine bay, my air intake is close to where the holes in the hood are, I knowticed a horsepower increase immeditly after doing this mod... more then my SLP CAI and K&N air filter combined
You could utilize those holes even more by boxing in the two holes... make like a tunnel rather than a hole into a big area then another hole.. direct the air straight through rather than into the void that is between the holes....
Probably could make it out of a coffe can flattened out, just trace the outline of the holes and bend it to fit between and then find a way to hold it in there...
you would see a more direct flow into the airbox area... worth a shot...
Good idea... I was planning on making tunnels with cardboard, then once I get the correct form, I am going to take the cardboard to a hardware shop and have plexiglass made for the tunnels
Okay, tonight I started the tunnel ram air project. I have the stencil for the first tunnel done and I will be going to buy plexi glass from the store tomorrow, and then I will start on the first tunnel. Here are a couple pictures of the first tunnel done in cardboard.
