  • help!! slp intake

Hey guys, I installed my SLP intake today... i thought i did everything right, then after i start driving, its running like u know what... The idle is bad, the car feels very sluggish like its skipping. Could I have broken the intake sensor?? Or I bought it used, but I cleaned and reoiled the filters, could they be bad?? Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like something to do with the MAF

any engine lights? Did you reattach the MAF and IAT properly? Overoil the filters?

yes i have the check engine light, i reattached the IAT sensor correctly, i didn't know the MAF sensor came unattached though. I may have overoiled the filters... is that permanent? or does it eventually even out?

that was my prob i must have over oiled the filter. because it happened just 2 days after i cleaned my k&n for the first time. But if you question if you over oiled the filter you did. You spray a VERY light coat of oil over it. So one bottle of K&N oil should last you 200,000 mi.

ok guys, so i attempted to reinstall the SLP again, i have followed the directions from both SLP and this site...Do i need new plugs and wires maybe,or what should i do? does my computer just need to get used to the new intake? any ideas?

If you put the old intake on and it ran fine that should rule out plugs and wires. It sounds like something is up with the intake. Make sure nothing is blocked and try starting the car without the filters on to see if it was a problem with over oiling them like V8 Killer said. The computer needs some time to adjust the fuel curve to the new intake, but it shouldn't cause any missing.
