ok guys, i'm contemplating buying the fast toys or slp ram air. i will also be getting a whisper lid to go along with it. im wondering if it is worth it to buy the ram air kit, or just cut out the flap above the radiator. maybe i'll be able to save some money if its not really worth it... :D
thanx

I don't think the slp was worth the money. I'd just do the free mod and the lid.

I have both the whisper lid and the fast toys ram air so I can speak for each of those mods. I put on the whisper lid (with a k&n) first and noticed some gains and a louder engine. A few weeks later I put on the fast toys RA. I didn't notice a difference until I was on the highway. At 75mph, my RPM's dropped nearly 100 from where it was with just the lid. At cruising speeds you could definitely feel a little improvement in passing power. I think they're both very much worth it, and a great start to modifying your car for performance.

RPMs cannot "drop". Gears are a locked thing. RPM for a given speed is a constant unless you change your gear ratio.
You butt dyno lies. Go try it at the track.
Did i mention it will get your air filter butt nasty? Oh yeah and it diverts the air that SHOULD be going through your radiator out the front of your airbox.
Ram air indeed  Do not waste your money.
If you are going to upgrade the engine....intake and exhaust are first. Any intake mod is a good one...especially if you want a power adder down the road.

No...but if he has an automatic and his convertor doesn't lock up then it could possibly drop the RPM's a bit.

Basically the only thing better about it, is it has a cool looking hood and your taking in maybe a bit cooler air.

says you..... I wont say this again. I was at the track with the slp cai and it took .15 off, i then put on me and a friends homemade ram air setup and it took twice as much off. i was running real consistent with the cai and then real consistent with the ram air

Well, I have the stainless Whisper C.A.I. and Lid. I can feel a very slight differance but not much. I figure every little bit helps.
But, I think the 200+ $ it cost you should look into internal engine work for HP instead if you just want more power. Like a Cam, etc. I wish I would have done this and just left the air box, filter and everything alone.
I would suggest that, and just leave the stock air box, filter, and the whole thing alone. $ is better spent on internal engine work.
OMG when i bought my ram air the salesperson told me i would get around 1000 hp out of it! Talk about bang for the buck...lol. And boy can i feel it, i feel like im in an F1 car now.
