40 or 80 series

I got a Flowmaster put on my car, its a dual outlet. I thought it was a 40 series because I thought thats what it said on the box. I was just reading through posts about 40 and 80 series and saw that the 80 was dual and 40 was single. I was just wondering if there was a dual out 40 series.

You can get a 40 series in a single in/dual outlets muffler too.

does it sit sideway and have a pipe coming from each side out? or do they both come out the left side?

I want to know this also, My mech. put a flowmaster on, single in, duel out on 2 sides. How do I tell if its a 40 or 80. Are they the same size or what?

80 series: Crossflow with the exhaust outlets on each side of the muffler
40 series: Exhaust goes in one side and comes out the other; you can have duals but they will be both on the driver's side.

Yeah, you have an 80 series, but does it really matter? Probably sounds pretty good. [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

It goes in on the right and out on both left and right. It does sound awesome at lower rpms, but at higher it sounds ricey. I have some rectangle exhaust tips now, but im thinking of either getting 3" slash tips or the dual ends w/resonator. The ones I have now (i believe) are 1x3 or 1x4 in. rectangles.

I think the 80 series is smaller than the 40 series muffler. I think you probably have the 80.

Checked the Flowmaster web site, 40 series duel outlet is duel outlet on one side. 80 series is the one with duel with an outlet from each side. My 80 case size is about 4" high 15" wide (Case only) & about 9.5 deep. It matches the specs for an 80 series. The easyest way I could see to find out is they say the 40 series case is 13" & the 80 is 15", not counting in the outlet flanges.: ;)
