• cutout or highflow cat...

I have a borla catback (second to closed plate) on my 3.8L '02 bird...

its ok sounding, gets raspy some times though

I want to make it as DEEP as possible, not necessarily loud as possible

I'm considering getting a high flow car or cutout to make it as deep and non-raspy as possible

what do you guys consider?

can some one also explain what a cutout does, from my knowledge its something you can open and close, and lets half the exhaust out before the I-pipe and the rest goes into the I-pipe?

thanks

also, maybe both would be better?

a cutout:
think of it as a y, with one end capped. if one end is capped, no exhaust will travel thru it. However, if you uncap it, most, if not ALL (should) will flow thru the cutout. the point of a cutout, really, is to minimize backpressure and allow the exhaust gases to flow freely. This is nice for at the track, for people that don't want to lose hearing driving on the street

a hi flow cat is just that. Basically, it has a bigger outlet, and flows better. I'm not sure the specifics on how well it keeps emissions down, but if you have E check in your state (grrr), you should still be okay.
