• Pacesetter or CIA to order

$470 for CIA heades ceramic coated shipped. $308 for Pacesetter headers black painted. Which should I get the guy I have been talking to said that the ceramic coating wears off the pacesetter and if i get ceramic coated headers from pacesetter it would cost around the same as RKSport headers. So I need some opinions by the end of the day please. Thanks.

I think that is strictly for the headers.. headers plus y pipe are more..

man if you can get your hands on the pacesetters I'd say go for it.. but, supposedly pacesetter hasn't even started making them yet..

I got a quote from CIA and its 670 with headers y-pipe and the collector gaskets. They have none for the block so I will have to use my old ones or get some new ones from my dealership unless anyone here knows where I can get em cheap.

Dan tells everyone $670 shipped. No matter where you are on the planet. You can get some from the dealership for like $13. Others have ordered the felpros, i think that is what they are called. They run like $18. I think I saw them either on thunderracing.com or tbyrne.com. If not just ask around. You can't go wrong with either one. Good luck. BTW, it may take a while to get your headers because he's got like 5 or 6 orders of the 3.8L headers and he has to make them from scratch. Oh weeel, just some advise so be patient. ;)

Thanks man. I will be patient on the headers. I am still kinda debating on the pacesetter but I don't know if they are poor quality or not. I would have to get my own y-pipe made and I really don't have much time during the weekdays to get anything done. I may just fork the money and wait.

Points of interest:
1) CIA headers - Excellent quality.
2) Pacesetter 3.8L headers - Do not exist.

Gee, lemme work this one out...

Other footnotes:
a) Headers not really worth the money or effort, in my opinion. Save your money for something else.
b) If you are going to get headers, get them ceramic coated.

I agree with the post above. I though Pacesetter didn't make headers for 3.8 yet. I also think it's a waste on a NA V6.

The current shorty headers for $500+ is not worth doing. IMO unless headers are tuned, and CIA nor RKSports are, they're worthless. The only gains CIA or RKSport headers will show will be through their ceramic coatings, not designs.

However, a custom Y-pipe might help, but Im not sure of this yet.

Me personally? I'm waiting on longtubes if anything - no need blowing $700 to see +2rwhp.

The main reason I am getting headers is I am getting heads and cam job done sometime in the near future and I would get more hp and torque from the heads and cam if I had headers to help increase the flow of exhaust. Dom when do you think they will come out with long tube headers for our cars?

P.S. there was a guy that was on this board that is a reseller for pacesetter. He said they have pacesetter headers painted for the 3.8 in stock. If you want that email address I will email or post it for you all.

ok im new at this but im considering headers and since someone said they are a waste on a v6 except that the y pipe might be important. could you just have a custom y pipe made to get the same affect and keep the manifolds.

and i have heard that there is a minor horse power gain like 5-7hp if that from headers but those were rksports.
