Hey guys I've searched, and I can't find any particulars, so anyone with a 3.4L that has made their own cold air intake. Feel free to give directions on how you did it, and what you made it with. I just added plugs and wires. I'm going to the track this weekend, and my car is gagging to death with the stock intake.
I don't know why it's been so hard to find instructions for this lately. I can remember ~6 months back when websites were up everywhere with guides. I made one a while ago but I never ended up putting it on the car (everything but the K&N filter).
If I can remember correctly, go to your local Home Depot and buy some PVC piping (it must be PVC and not ABS because of the heat resistance). I know that you need one 3ft pipe, a 90 degree (or two 45's which some find you get better flow) elbow, and the last piece is somewhere around 6-10 inches (it doesn't make a whole lot of difference anyway, it'll still fit OK). So basically, just get some PVC glue and attach them in the same order (3ft to elbow to 6-10 inch pipe). Now I can't remember if the K&N cone filter comes with what you need to mount it to the piping (it mounts to the 6-10 inch pipe). If it doesn't, you can glue/brace it. And remember, when you buy your cone filter to buy one with a 3" opening. The length doesn't really matter, 6-9" is fine.
You also need somewhere to plug your IAT sensor into the CAI (or do the resister mod to trick it). I can't remember what the drill bit size is, but it's pretty staight forward: drill a hole big enough to insert the sensor and silicone it to make it airtight.
I don't think I missed anything here, but that should get you on your way.
