• Who's got cutouts?

Just wanted to see if anyone is running a cutout on their 3800 and how it sounds? Got a guy who's selling one cheap that I'm interested in, but if our engines don't sound good when not running through a muffler I don't wanna waste the money. Any preferences out there?

yes they do sound good every one thinks mine is a Formula when I drive around with mine open. No popping and only an occasional backfire. I really notice power gains with it also.

They are definitely the cheapest alternative to making your car sound mean. From my experience, you will lose quite a bit of low end(due to back pressure loss) but you will gain a good amount of top end. It's really up to you. If you install it and don't like it you can always cap it up, it's like if it wasn't even there. People will always be bias about their exhaust systems. I always recommend Borla or B&B Tri flow. I have been through a lot of different systems. From Flows to cut outs to catbacks and all sorts of different variations. Overall, the cut out is not a bad way to go.

Well, if you look in my signature I already have headers and the B&B triflo catback on my car. Like I said, a friend just had a couple 2.5" cutouts for sale really cheap and I just thought I'd see if anyone had anything bad to say about the way they sounded. I'm happy with my exhaust as it is right now, but nothin' like sounding a little meaner every once in awhile.

I have one, it sounds like crap

Ridiculous drone inside the car, makes things shake & rattle. Its after the cat right before the axle.

Takes a few tenths off my et, and I don't notice any loss of low end (then again this is a cutout on an otherwise stock exhaust system).

Personal opinion:
Not worth it if you have an aftermarket catback
Definitely not worth it if you want it for how it sounds

Yea, I'd have to agree with him. Since you already have a full cat back, Id just leave it alone. Its obviously louder, but thats not nessesarily a good thing, I'd cap mine up but I'm too lazy.

Key part here "after the cat" before the cat is a world of difference on sound.
