  • 2 1/2" or 3" cat & S-pipe

I have a B&B Triflow catback, which is 2 1/2". My question is if it is fine to go with a 3" in out diameter magnaflow cat and S pipe, or should i stay with a 2 1/2???? Any comments appreciated.I got a $15 coupon from ebay to use at any store and it ends 10/31 and i would like to order before than. Thanks again.
    BTW, Its a 01 3.8 w/ Y87

Might be a good idea to do a quick search. There's been quite a few debates, and they usually get pretty long so there should be alot there if you try to search.

2.5" catback is a waste of money, its 3" or nothing.

I am going to be buying an exhaust system today.. hopefully from summit, from what I've read the magnaflow sounds the best on 3.8L...
            They are not 3" though..
            Intermediate Pipe Diameter (in): 2.500
            Tailpipe Diameter (in): 2.500
            Tip Diameter (in): 3.500

            The flowmaster isn't a 3" either...
            Intermediate Pipe Diameter (in): 2.500
            Tailpipe Diameter (in): 2.500
            Tip Diameter (in): 3.000

What is a good exhaust I can buy for around 400-450(Borla is out of the question.. way to expensive) that has a 3" catback setup?

            Is a 3" that much better then a 2.5"??

CamaroRob said something about a converter... where can I buy a converter kit for a magnaflow?

Go with the LT1 system, Magnaflow's comes with the S pipe as well. Bolts right up the same. Look on e-bay for a carsound (magnaflow's parent company) 3" cat... mine was 35 bucks
