  • 80 Series Flowmaster........What Next?

I am on my way to putting on my 80 series flowmaster on my 1996 Firebird 3.8L. The car is all stock and I am very new at all this performance stuff. What should I do next?

If you don't want your exhaust sounding ricier than what it is, then get your intake done ASAP.

I would do the following. I did these free mods and noticed a difference.

      1. Remove Mass Airflow Sencer Screen
      2. Get A K&N filter.
      3. Remove air silencer
      4. Use a 3" PVC pipe to connect the airfiter and Throttle body.
      5. Pull off and sand down the fins on factory airlid.

If you have any question, Email me directly at Magic1872@aol.com and I will try to do my best to help you. I have a 99 Firebird and things might be different.

I dont think I can do those mods to my 1996 Firebird. What do you mean by intake? Does that include the K&N Drop in filter or the hole CAI?

            1) I wouldn't remove the MAF screen. Leave it.
            2) Don't get a drop-in K&N, I had done that originally. It's a waste of money. Get an SLP cold air intake system.
            3) You don't have an air silencer to remove. Skip.
            4) Skip that too.
            5) You don't have an airlid. Skip again.

Basically, go get yourself an SLP cold air intake - new at www.slponline.com or you can check around on the For Sale board on this forum or ebay, etc. for a used one.

After that I'd change the I-pipe if you haven't already.

You can put in a high flow catalytic converter too. Catcos from www.SummitRacing.com are good and cheap.
