do you guys think that if i run true duals on my 96 3.8,it would sound ricey? i have custom longtubes and i was going to use borla bullets, x-pipe and turndowns, the v6 stang sounds good would my v6 sound like crap? should i just run a 3" exhaust setup? would the sound be significantly better with true duals? oh i also have a .500 220/224 114ls comp cam if this helps

have you really heard one in person or on the net. i've heard them in person w/ true duals and they sound ricey. the sound is okay at idle, kinda like a v8 mustang. anything above 2500rpm's and it's buzzing obnoxiously. it's because the pipes are small to keep from losing low end torque, but those small pipes make it sound like the car is castrated. they don't even make much gains in power when they switch to duals. plus it adds weight. i wish it was a good mod for our cars, true dual exhaust just sounds cool to say. if we were v8's there would be no question. just don't need it on a v6. f body's can sound ricey too, but it's usually w/ stock pipes.96 wht. firebird 5sd. rk sport headers,3in.catco, spintech catback,CAI,FRA,3.42/lsd 180*t-stat, centerforce dual friction clutch, ls1 driveshaft, polyurethane trans. mount.
01 blk. z28 m6, borla exht, lid, k
+n, sfc., chrome 18in. y2k c5 wheels.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. I was going to use either 2 or 2.25 pipes but I haven't decided on using one cat or 2 cats staggered so that the distance from the manifold to the cat would be the same for each side. for mufflers i was thinking of using either some resonators, small mufflers, or a set of SuperTrapps since you can tune the sound(which i think would be nice)
Of course I also was thinking of side pipes like the rousch mustangsBlack 1996 Firebird
Newest Edition: Harlan Window Switch
Nitrous Express Kit,ASCD big block hood, SLP Loudmouth, CATCO hi-flow cat, CAI, -Maf, LSD, Flameball Shifter
Best N/A 1/4 in 15.216 @ 89.82 Best N2O 1/4 in 14.352 @ 97.46 <--w/clutch slippage
My homepage
AIM:MotorHead75068 YIM:MotorHead69

If you go true duals go 2" on both pipes, going larger than 2" on both pipes is unnecessarry for sub 6250RPM operation even with full heads/cam setup. Goodluck, let us know what happens.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro
