Ok here is my problem, I was installing a pair of heads, heads install is now complete but I screwed up one of the bolt holes on the exhaust manifold. I cross threaded one of the bolts on the passenger side manifold. I got a new bolt but it wouldnt work because the threads on the manifold are also screwed up. So I tried to retap the exhaust manifold bolt hole threads and the tap broke off in half inside the bolt hole. NOw I cant get the tap out.

So I was thinking instead of spending money trying to get the manifold fixed maybe I will just buy some headers. What do you all think? Is there an easy fix for my exhaust manifold that dont cost lots of money? Because if there is I will do that. But if I have to spend more than like $50 on the manifold I would rather buy headers.

I was thinking just getting some RKSPORT headers and having the Y pipe welded together. Has anyone heard anything new on the Pacesetter headers?

    So what should I do?

I am a distributor for Pacesetter so I just called them to find out what the story was here. The sales guy said that they aren't even making the 3.8L V6 headers yet...in ceramic coating or black steel. If they aren't manufacturing them, then you can't get them. Looks like RKSport is going to be the way to go.

Maybe he was talking about the 3.4 headers. Ok then RKSPORT it is. I will not pay $670 for CIA that is too much. RKSPORT $490 is still expensive but I have no choice. Unless it would be cheap and easy to fix my stock manifold. Would it? I dont want to put too much money and effort into it but if its easy and cheap then I can do it. If not I will get RKSPORT.

So I emailed that guy about the pacesetters and here is what I got:

335 shipped to you. and my supplier has them in stock, at least they did 2 days ago when i checked for another guy.

Is this guy really ripping people off? I was pretty sure the pacesetter headers have not been released yet. Does anyone have some info on this guy?

Maybe some more of us should email him with questions.

                    his email: OnesloZ@aol.com

I was looking on the pacesetterexhaust.com website and they have them listed and priced at $309, part#; 70-1209

Maybe this guy is telling the truth, they are available and we dont know it yet?

I also found another website that sales them.
                    http://www.flatlanderracing.com/headers_chevy.html

Come on guys lets do some research. Who knows something about these?

I got some more email from this guy:

ok here is the deal. i am looking in my supply book right now. here is the part # for them and the specs. pace setter shorty headers for 95-99 camaro 3.8L part # is pac. 70-1209. includes hardware, gaskets, instructions, and header bolts.

                      and another email:

hey man, just wanted to add that i have not ordered a set of these headers yet for someone, but i am sure that i am looking at the right thing in my catalog. also try going to the pacesetter website they have them listed there as well so i know that they exist. i don't know what else to tell you. just trying to figure out how to reassure you in some way that i am not trying to rip you off or anything. i am going on what i was told by my supplier and what is in my book. anway, if you have any more questions feel free to email me. thanks mason kellum

                      What you guys think.

Indeed they are listed on that website for $309.
                        70-1209 95-99 Camaro, 3.8L $309.95

I would definetly TRY to get the pacesetters - the worst that could happen would be that he can't get them . Don't send the guy $310 though - I'd call him and as him to order some, and when he can put his hand on the things ready to ship to you go ahead and send some dough - unless he needs a small $40 security deposit or something .

If he can't do that, you'll be taking a risk sending $310 to the guy to get headers that might not exist yet. They are on their page though, and that is encouraging.

These headers ARE listed in my price book and they are on the site, but when I called Pacesetter and talked to my sales rep, he looked the information up on his computer and it says that they have NOT started production on these headers yet. I would trust what the guys at Pacestter say, not a catalog. According to Pacesetter, they will be out in 8-10 weeks...this is the answer that I got 8-10 weeks ago though so keep that in mind.

I've also been wondering about these Pacesetter headers, and this is what I've found out. I was checking out ammperformance.com and saw them on their website. I e-mailed the sales rep and he said that they have them listed but are and will not be in stock for 8-12 weeks. This was about two weeks ago, however he did tell me that the people from Pacesetter had told him 8-10 weeks a few weeks ago and seem to be taking a longer than expected. So for now let's not get our hopes up, but be out looking for them though!!! BTW they have the Black Steel ones for $211.47 and ceramic coated for $367.47. Can't beat those prices with a stick.
