  • Got my cutout installed (plus funny story) :)

Well, went to a few places, and the cheapest place I could find around here to install the damn thing was Ripley's, for $45. I know that's high, but everyone else was sayin freakin $50, so I was like screw it... plus my mom paid for it :D

Anyways, I walk in the store, and the conversation goes as follows: (my mom was standing by watching the whole time btw)

Me: I got a cutout i need installed
Him: Ok, sure thing, what size is it?
    Me: 2 and a quarter
Him: That's your Camaro, right? That thing has 2 and 3 quarter pipes, you're gonna restrict air-flow like hell
    Me: Naw, it's a V6, it's got 2 1/4.
Him: Trust me man, I'm a big Camaro enthusiast, they all, even then V6 models have 2 3/4.
Me: Trust me, I know my car has 2 1/4.
Him: Ooook, well let me put it up on the racks and I'll show you how much smaller the cutout is then the pipes.
    Me: Oook

...few minutes goes by while he puts the car up...then the guy returns...

Him: Well, I guess we can make it fit. I didn't realize you had a V6.
    Me: Mmhhmm

Lol... I'll bet he felt like a dope. When he walked back outside I whispered to my mom "Yeah, remember how he said EVEN V6 Camaro's?"

So anyways, cutout took em like 10 min to install. After that, I started up the car, and OMG that thing sounds sweet. Pulled out onto the street, and even at low RPM's it made the car shake it was so loud and deep. Whole way home I only got it up to 4000RPM's, at which it sounded excellent, not even the tiniest bit raspy, etc. I was expecting it to kinda sound bad at 4000+, but it didn't. I haven't floored it all the way up to the redline, yet.

Anyways, anyone who doesn't have a cutout, and likes loud exhaust, should get one! The soundclips can't even do this cheap *** mod justice.

Anyways, time to go wash my car before the sick-sixx BBQ tonight :D

I had a 3" cutout before the cat, but today I decided to toss it. It was getting too annoying and I think it actually created turbulence in my exhaust. Today I cut off my cutout along with my cat and clamped in a piece of 3" tube bent down to a 2 1/4 size. Sounds pretty much just like it used to with the dynomax, but its a hella lot smoother and I think it actually might be a little faster

Give it too you? You want my cutout? its in good conition, actually had it welded to the 3" pipe right before the cat so it's all one piece. It was made for like 50 bucks. Custom made and installed, all for 50 bucks tax-free. Can't beat that!

It's a piece of piping that can be put on your exhaust that has a plate you can take on and off. When you take off this plate, your exhaust freely flows out, bypassing the muffler, or muffler and cat if you put it before the cat. So by taking off the plate and bypassing one or both of those things, you're gonna reduce backpressure and increase flow in your exhaust, and at the same time make it sound really nice :D

I'll post a soundclip of it later today probably.
