Is gutting or removing the catalic converter really worth failing the emissions for? I was thinking of putting a straight pipe but im wondering if the car will sound any different or gain any power from it. Also, any problems that this might cause?

It will definatly add some more power and some more noise. I thought about doing it to my camaro but i cant since i have 2 O2 sensors one before the cat and one after it. so im pretty sure my check engine light will come on if i remove it or hollow it out. But i heard high flow cats work nicely.

Yes if your car is OBD2 it will set off the SES light if you gut or remove your cat unless you get an o2 simulator for the sensor after the cat. As for the gains, I definitely think its worth it. I done it to my 3.4 and it made a significant difference in the feel and sound of my car. The exhuast note is a little deeper and mildly louder. As for power gain that was the largest. I couldnt tell anything different at lower rpm's but now at higher rpm's my little 3.4 screams compared to what it was before I gutted it. Before gutting it, my engine would just simply quit pulling almost after about 4500's rpms due to the exhaust not being able to flow enough after that point. Now it pulls all the way to 6000 rpm's.

It will add a few horsies, and will deffentially make it louder. I dont run a cat, but i don't have emissions either.

You could just swamp them back and forth for emissions, but it depends on how much you want to fuse with it.
