I'd get a new cat anyhow. I love mine - if money's a problem, you may be able to fabricate something similar or better for cheaper.
A 3" Dynomax I-pipe is $100, resonator is... $50?? Start from there and make yourself a "Dynomouth!" www.RedLineVSix.com || 1996 Camaro, 15.159@92.5mph

It will be extremely loud, I know. I'm louder than my friends v8's when they got the cutouts open :D

I highly doubt your V6 exhaust is louder than a V8 WITH a cutout...Otherwise, it would just be an obnoxious loud rather than a respectable sound. And what kind of cars do your friends have?

if you say so bud...but me and a buddies LS1 with his cutout open were sittin next to each other and mine was louder...and mine's louder at WOT too. and who gives a flyin' **** about respectably loud. I could really care less what it sounds like. I was planning on going turbo so I gotta loudmouth regardless of what it sounded like \'97 Pontiac Firebird A4 3.08/open
Best 60ft.: 2.411 Best 1/8: 10.262 @ 69.726 Best 1/4: 15.941 @ 87.48
Mods: SLP CAI, Loudmouth, Test Pipe

It is pretty damn loud, but you have a test pipe so I'm sure it's much louder.AIM: escalier deverre
\'02 Pearl Blue Metallic RSX-S (daily driver)
\'98 Black Firebird
98 V6 turbocharged to 02 LS1 swap
\'02 LS1/4L60E
LS6 Block, LS6 Intake Manifold, Thunder Racing 215/220 .600/.523/115 Cam, Titanium Retainers, Crane Double Valve Springs, 125 shot NX Wet Kit w/ NOS brand Purge, True Dual \"H\" Pipe w/ two chambers and dumps, 17x11(rear) and 17x9.5(front) Black Powdercoated ZR1 Replicas on 315 and 275 BFGoodrich Comp T/A\'s (Street)/ET Drags/Skinnies on Weldlites(Track), 3.42/LSD

trust me...there's a pretty big difference between havin a cat and not havin one. I used to have a 3" high flow on there and when I took the cat back out and put in a test pipe I couldn't believe how much louder that made it.\'97 Pontiac Firebird A4 3.08/open
Best 60ft.: 2.411 Best 1/8: 10.262 @ 69.726 Best 1/4: 15.941 @ 87.48
Mods: SLP CAI, Loudmouth, Test Pipe

I had to get my 1985 Pontiac Parisienne (boat sedan, Canadian version of the Bonneville) tested for the couple years I was living in Pittsburgh.
Both years I passed on cheap unleaded, no smog pump, a permanently bypassed heat riser valve, and the original cat at 170,000 miles.
I think you'll fail if a cylinder isn't firing and sending pure gas into the exhaust, but other than that with a car in good tune it's pretty tough I think.

bobbyem... we have a lot in common!
I drive a 99 V6 Camaro!
I work at Wal-mart!
I just ordered my SLP Loudmouth Catback! Should be here soon!
I have absolutely no clue if it will fit on the stock catalytic converter or not. I guess if it won't, you'll learn from my mistake huh?Tom
Too many mods for this sig.
My car\'s site

www.FullThrottleV6.com
