  • eram=pos?

so i won an eram off a ricer in a race, and strapped it on my car for fun to see if it made a difference. never got a chance to take it to the track (i've already gotten rid of it, needed money...), but i could've swore i felt a pretty big improvement. i have my stock air box on now, and my acceleration on everyday driving in first gear seems to b horrible compared to what it was. when i mentioned in the for sale section that i was saling the eram though, i just about got laughed out of it, til some cocky moderator decided to lock the post. no one would explain why the eram is a pos. now the gains i "felt" might have just been in my head, so i was wondering if someone had a convincing argument (besides just saying its a pos and trying to flame me) as to why it doesn't work. i passed it on to a ricer in a civic, so its not my problem n e more, it just kind of ticks me off so many people want to label it a piece w/ out giving a reason why. i'm a reasonable guy, talk to me!

yeah, i've read that post. it has nothing in it but people calling the eram a pos and then talking about the turbodyne. no one gave a reason why it was a pos though. they just labeled it and then went on their way. all i need is a real reason why its a waste of $ and time, and i'll b happy.

found this post. that nino guy, he was one of the ones to label it a pos, but then had nothing to back it up with. i went and read some of his other posts though, and it seems he likes to do that alot, so i suppose i'm ok with it now. and i thought the entire board was full of people like him... good thing i did some research i guess.

Just look at the pics man.. Look at the open area that air has to go through when that damn thing isn't runing.

And the blades don't even "seal" to the outer ring.

Take a PC fan.. over power it.. is it enough to really blow good? You think its even powerful enough to create a positive intake pressure?

            no way.

It's just a way for some guy to make some $$$$.

It's a POS. Nuff said. You won it from a ricer, guess why he lost. You'll just have to trust all of us on this, if you're not going to believe it. Or, hell, I'll sell you my pc fan ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H electric supercharger for $500. :D

Ok, you guys don't believe in electric superchargers, so I'll have to prove it to you somehow. Fine by me. At some point in the future, I'll bring timeslips of N/A and E-charged 1/8 mile runs, and see how ya like it then! No hard feelings, though.

loser, dont mind me. everybody who knows me knows i am an azzhole. dont take it personal, cause lord knows i dont.
but i will tell you where i was coming from. you see, i have been modding my V6 for over 3 years now and i have done a lot of research on many many products.
yes, your car did feel better with the eram. i'll give you that, but let me tell you why. its because your stock airlid is soooo restrictive. if you get another aftermarket airlid you will fell the difference in a heartbeat. if you smooth out your stock lid, remove the bellows, and maybe raise it and use a K&N you will again feel a difference. intake upgrades are by far one of the best noticable mods a person could do.
now why do say its a POS?
because it blocks air from going into the intake more than it pushes air into the intake. there is no way that little fan can push that much air into the intake to make a difference. how do i prove that? i cant. i can though use my sons twirly thing he got fromm the circus and put it in front of the intake and it will do the same thing - block air from getting into the intake while spinning at fast rates of speed.
a true test would be a Eram against a CAI. to test it against your stock lid is not fair, we know the stock lid is slow, but the question is: is the Eram worth more than a CAI (its actuall real competetor)
i know i had said i had given upm but 2 more post made me come back. btw, i started the want to buy thread to see what others thought and then could show you, but then we got locked. when i first started modding my car - when there was less than 500 member here. i swear not one of them would have ever thought twice about getting one of these things. there has to be areal reason why only ricers use them. glad to seee you got rid of it. glad we could bring up a good old debate. no harm intended, but i will go to my grave saying that it is a POS, even if you prove me wrong at the track. yes, anything is better than stock lid, but that is not the wisest choice. i guess that is what i should have said in the beginning.
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

no hard feelings, and i do finally see where ur coming from. n e one in the ict area want to lend out their cai for a night, or better yet, strap the eram on themselves? i saw the pirates to the carribean movie last night, and now i'm to excited by that to care much about the eram n e more, so i don't think i'm takin it to the track now n e ways. stupid a.d.d... at first glance though, the eram didn't look to shotty, and i bet on a smaller 4 cylinder engine, it might do some good. perhaps. i hate math.

Its a scam. Don't work at all and can damage your engine.

the eram is much more then just a boat blower. my particular model was able to actually lift itself off the ground and slowly rise itself when i turned it on. then i turned it off and it kind of hit the ground hard. suppose that was bad for it. with as impressive as that was, the debates that precede this comment prove that it really isn't worth the $.
