• Solution for E-Ram *Track only*

Why don't you just get an air compressor, the big floor standing units and plug that into an electical outlet near the stanging lanes, burnout box, or christmas tree.

Attach about a 1/2 mile worth of hose and drape it lightly over the infield wall. All the way down the quartermile - just long enough to reach shut-down.

And have a buddy (remove the hood) sit on the nose facing the engine bay and just hold a blow nozzle near the throttle body intake.

That way you'll get an actual compressed air charge of somewhere around 90 PSI.
No parasitic drag off the crank, or pull from the alternator...no hot exhaust gasses to worry about!!!

Then just after the quartermile he can throw the air hose, to hang on with both hands, and pick it up when you return for your timeslip.

I bet you should get at least one run before the compressor kicks in, and it'll be charged by the time you get back to the staging lanes anyway.

I calculate you'll need about 53 hoses of 3/8" in 50-foot lengths. Plus all the male to female fittings.

It's been discussed before, why don't you do a search. Jeez ;)

Uh Billy I doubt seriously anyone has discussed what I just posted. Did you even read any of it?

A)
it was a joke, supposed to have been funny imaginging someone going down the quartermile with a no hood and friend draped over the engine pointing a blow nozzle from a floor standing air compressor plugged into an electrical outlet somewhere near the burnout box, to the throttle body/intake with about a 2000 feet of air hose.

B)
I don't think anyone prior to me has thought of attaching another human being to the hood of your car in an attempt to go faster down the track? I could be wrong.

That was pretty funny. There IS one option, however, that could make something like the E-Ram more effective. Just have a 3" pipe with two outlets. Let one outlet go to the E-Ram, and the other to the standard intake. Place a check valve after the air filter so that it will close when the E-Ram neutralizes the vacuum. When the demand of the engine exceeds the pressure of the E-Ram, and vacuum is again present, the check valve will open again, and allow the needed air in. Basically, it's just a way to have both a standard intake and an E-Ram without obstructing the intake all the time.

Yeah...sarcasm doesn't work well over the net. I tried with the little winking eye and "Jeez", but I guess it didn't work.

People have talked about midgets under the hood spraying thoes little cans of CO2 into the intake to cool the air.

And yes, I did read that whole post. And yes, it is about using compressed air from a tank to boost an engine. And yes, I know it was a joke, and I was trying to play along.

alright, i think i've got the solution to this eram problem. i haven't got to shipping out my eram yet, so tommorow night, i'll take it to the track and give it a run w/ the eram and give it a run with the stock air box. thats the only performance enhancer i'll have on (or off, depending on the run), otherwise it'll b stock. and then the debate will change from whether the eram is crap or if its just my car

Couldn't you use an industrial shop vac connected to the intake. You could clean the track as you go. :D

Heh, yeah, I am aware. The point was that other people too, have envisioned a comical situation where there are people spraying stuff into the intake while the vehicle is moving.

Fortunately stupidity is not one of the criteria for closing a thread.

Otherwise none of us would be posting at CamaroV6.
