I need help with Exhaust!!!!

Hey I was wondering if someone could explain to me the purpose of an exhaust cut out and what exactly its function is. I have been thinking about getting one when I purchase an exhaust but kinda want to know what it is before I drop some money on it. Also, this is what I was thinking of getting for my exhaust:

Magnaflow Catback 3.5 inch slash tip
3.8L, V6 2.5" SS Tubing, 5"x8"x18" Single/Dual Muffler, 3.5" SS Tip MUFFLER CAMARO 3.8L 98+

with like a high flow cat or something any suggestions to a setup for me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

An exhaust cutout is basically like a bypass valve for your exhaust. It is made for those who want to run their cars at the track without the restriction of a muffler or catalytic converter, but still need the system functional for normal everyday driving. It can be installed anywhere in your exhaust system. Most people install it before the catalytic converter, while others install it in the i-pipe to bypass just the muffler.

If you are thinking of a high flow cat you may consider a high flow cat that is 3" on the outlet (since your stock cat has a 3" inlet) and then you'd be able to purchase the Magnaflow LT-1 system which has 3" piping all the way back.

Thanks I know this may be a dumb question but is the LT-1 the V6 engine or does that refer to the 5.7L? Also is it possible to hook up a cat back thats made for a V8 like the SLP Loudmouth? I really dont know much about this so any help is really appreciated. Thanks

The LT-1 is the 5.7L V8 ranging from 93-97 in F-body's...your V6 would be the L36 i believe.
