• totally stock NEED EXHAUST OPINIONS!!

ok guys i've had my 98 3.8 camaro 5 speed for about 8 months now and its time to start modding. exhaust is first to go. im gonna do a catback first. i want it to sound good, and aggressive growl @ idle, and a deep sound at WOT. but, i dont want it to sound ricey. what catback would you all reccomend. ALSO, next to go it intake. im going with an SLP CAI, do you all think that is the best to go with? THEN, im not sure what to do next but MAYBE a Jet Stage II performance chip. are these worth it? will i feel a big increase? after that i dont know what to do.... maybe new mass airflow sensor? how much increase in hp can i expect with the first 3 mods? any feedback is GREATLY appreciated
peace

do a search on this board. All the exhausts are pretty much the same, and they ALL sound ricy at high rpms. First I would get the SLP cai and whisper lid. then get a 3" exhaust, and high flow cat.

If your car is currently stock, DO INTAKE FIRST!!!

Ok!

The way to go is...

Whisper Lid
K&N of Holley Powershot Filter

That is a great start. Good sound and slight performance effeciency increase.

To make it better, add a Whisper Ram-Air Kit. It is the same as Rk Sport, SLP, AND Fast Toys.

The only difference?..It includes everything and costs less!

I have all of the above. It can be installed by you with ease. I paid about $300 for everything from TBryne...if I remember correctly.

That will take care of your intake and help with your exhaust! Good luck!

I am currently in a debate with myself with exhaust! ... :(

Amen to that except the SLP brand is slightly cheaper, but has less. Like bluebird said, get both the whisper lid and the whisper ram air kit (WRA). I got mine from tbyrne.

get your cai first! as far as exhaust goes, they will all sound ricey at high rpm's. for the most part, all catbacks will give you the same performance gains. its just the sound preferance that you choose. buy the chip after you modify your intake and exhaust. as far as being able to notice any gains, you definitely will. these are excellent beginner mods.

ok well then.. how do you do a ram air package w/o a ram air hood? i've never understood where it picks up tha air... and also how will i be able to do multiple setups like that? i've researched and i dont understand how an SLP cai will work with say, a whisper lid.
