Another exhaust question, sort of pertaining to the 3" vs. 2.5" arguement. I did a search and read that there had been a post of stock dyno sheets for both 2.5" and 3" catbacks but couldn't find that post after doing more searches....Any help? Also on ebay the v8 magnaflow descriptions say 3/2.5" ss tubing. The v8 catback is all 3" except for the 3.5" tips, right?

I cant decide whether to go with 2.5" or 3". Ahhh.. I want 1.8 ratio rockers and headers after the catback/hi-flow cat, but I cant guarentee that i'll be getting those things. If I leave my car stock except for intake/catback, is 3" still the way to go? So sorry for beating the dead horse but I dont want my graduation present going to waste.

Nobody's done an actual dyno with 3" and 2.5" to compare.

This will probably turn into another 3"/2.5" flame war.

My opinion: 2.5" is a total waste of money. Hardly an upgrade at all. Either go with 3" or stay stock.

Yep. .25" would be hard to consider an upgrade.

I have a cutout, but I wouldn't get it again. Sounds horrible, hits the ground, and has dented my car to hell.

Just get a 3" I-Pipe and be happy with it.

No, the pipes are 3" throughout until it splits with the dual outs. It is 21/2 each and then goes to 3.5 tips.

Get the magnaflow # 15620 (94-97 V 8)
The literature on that guys ebay pages is inconsistant...but the 15620 is the one you want...it comes with a 3" S pipe. All you need after that is a 3x3 cat (with O2 sensor bung) and some aftermarket universal tail pipe hangers. I use two hangers on either side for strength and rigidity.

I have a full install guide for the 15620 on my website...in the GUIDES section.

Can you take pics of your hangers because I'm getting LT1 Borla soon and I need to know where I need to put the hangers at.

mount the hangers where your stock hangers mount...the chassis mounts under trunk. Either have your old hanger pins welded on to the new exhaust system and then hange em directly from your stock mounts...or use universal hangers..the kind with a U Bolt and some rubber strapping and then some metal strapping...and bolt the metal strapping to the hanger mount bolts on the chassis. you will see what I mean. Take off the stock hanger mounts...two bolts on each side...save the bolts...use those bolts and bolt holes to mount the new universal hangers. easy cheesey.

I used two hangers on either side...very rigid, very strong...no bumping or banging.
