• Stock SS/Z28 catback questions...

I was wondering if anyone has this on their car and what it sounds like. Also what are the performance gains? And does anyone know where i could find one, besides a used one at a junk yard, i think i would want to go with a new one if im gonna drop that much money. Thanks a lot guys, i did try the search but couldn't really find what i was looking for.

a lot of guys sell their old stuff on the msg boards (cz28.com and ls1tech). shoot, i got mine for 30 bucks locally before i changed back. i loved the Z28 system. it rumbles pretty well, and isn't too obnoxious. it gives good gains too, it flows plenty well on a V6.

Enh, don't do it. Not worth it, IMO, unless it was free.

well if it isn't worth it what do you think is a good exhuast set up? I don't like the flowmasters that well cause they sound really ricey, and many that i have heard sound rice like that, i was hoping the stock z28 would do the trick. any suggestions?

I have a WS6 axle-back (new term? heh) on my car right now. Before that is a 3" cat and I-pipe (up until the axle, of course, where the WS6 pipe takes over). I could really feel the difference when I had this installed. The idle is amazing. The only thing I don't like is a rattling sound when the rpms start to drop during a shift.

Catback ------- $60
Cat ----------- $55?
8' of 3" pipe -- $33
Labor --------- $70

Overall, I'm impressed - although I would not mind going to an aftermarket muffler. My advice would be to go with whatever's cheaper: 3" cat/catback with aftermarket muffler or 3" cat/stock V8 catback . The stock V8 stuff should be cheap.

I have a z-28 I Pipe on my car. It is a LOT better than stock. I think its 2.75 mandrel bent. Not too big, not small though. Flows a lot better. Was very cheap and sounds great. I have a magnaflow muffler though, not the z-28 one.

I've got the stock Z cat back $50 for the exhaust and $20 for the install. Does have some performance gains and doesn't sound like *** like some others do at WOT. I do get alot of compliments on the sound vs. Flomaster and Dynomax systems.

I heard a WS6 exhaust on a V6 and I wasn't impressed at all. It sounded like a stock exhaust IMO.

on 3.4Ls its sounds nice, never heard it on a 3.8L

ITs worth it, for cheap, maybe dump the muffler for anohter one but I got mine for free, and it flows better then my stock I-pipe with gutted cat, and any muffler I tried.

now I have catco, 2.75 in I-pipe, and z28 muffler, I go the cutout route, so I like how its quiet but when you get on it its as loud but better sounding then my old flowmaster.
