Hey guys,
Dominic (cardinal) and I were checking out his car today and did some mods. We found a great new way to do the raised air lid mod. Instead of getting the normal washers and adding them one at a time to the desired height, we found a better replacement. At Lowe's hardware store we ended up finding some nylon spacers that are about a half inch in height. This is the perfect size we found to go under the hood without having the hood hit the airbox when closing. Now doing this mod will only require 2 spacers instead of 4 because we found that when putting the spacers on the outtermost braket to hold the box down... it raised it high enough where when adding the spacer to the next inner bracket.... the connecting screw from the air box was too short to connect to the bottom of the car so we found that the perfect solution is to just use 2 spacers on the left and right outermost bracket. It secures the air box and lid down enough that you don't need the inner boltdowns.
There is now enough space to fit my whole hand underneath. in the short time i have driven the car I can notice that it is definitely more responsive and eager to rev than before. It is also getting a ton more airflow directly and underneath the box. Overall the spacers cost us $1.07 a pair and is most definitely worth the cost. Took us about 5 minutes to install too. I think you should all give it a try ;)
on another note, the Cardinal and I installed his new 1LE package swaybars that he ordered today. I'm sure he will be on to give an in depth writeup about that. I can tell you... those bars make a world of difference.
this is it for now... if ya have any questions shoot.
