Im gunna buy a single inlet/dual outlet flowmaster 80 series muffler to try and give my 3.8L camaro a nice sound. Is this a good idea? and how much would it cost to install one of these.??

I despise the 80 series, but alot of people here love them. I have a 40 series with no cat, and it's LOUD. Too loud for most people I'd say. I used to have an 80 series, but I actually cut it off and threw it away. Several members also like Dynomax and Spinniker (spelling) I've changed my exhaust 6 times, and I'm keeping the setup I have now. You're looking at $90-$125 depending on the shop. DO NOT pay more than $125! Shop around. Good luck!

Just doing the muffler isn't going to give yor F-Bod a nice sound! Any just muffler will sound bad in the mid-upper RPM's.

Save up your money for Intake, HF Cat, And Cat-Back. That will give it a nice sound! Go one step further and Get Headers! ;)

Well, then it will sound that much better with intake/cat/headers. I had a 40 D series muffler on stock pipe. Then I got a full catback (unfortunately it quickly developed a leak and sounded like crap for a couple of weeks, but now fixed it sounds nice) and it sounds somewhat similiar, but deeper and a little louder. I can actually hear it at idle.

Remember, no matter what it sounds like with just a muffler it'll only get deeper (and sometimes louder) with larger pipes, cai, headers, etc.

you guys are right but remember he is only looking to give his car a nice sound. if thats all he is looking to do then i would definitely go with the 80 series muffler. sure it gets ricey about 4000 rpms but what doesnt?

I did this on my 2000, and for the sound I liked it. It wasn't worth the total cost IMO, since I paid $200 for muffler and install + tips. Try to get your cost around $150-200 with tips included for something like this. Its very simple to cut and make a few welds.

Also, when you do it, if you do it, be sure to add another stiff exhaust hanger to the other side of the exhaust to keep it from swinging side to side.

I thought mine sounded great, at least under load (in drive), and even though it didn't give me a performance increase, I was quite happy with it.
