• Driving in rain w/ SLP CAI

Has anyone with the SLP CAI for the 98+ 3.8's had any problems with sucking water up into their intake? It just really bothers me to drive the car in the rain knowing that the thing is sucking out there and could get water into my engine. I just need to hear from people that may have experienced this, because if so Im starting to think it wasn't worth the money to cause to to worry all the time. Also does it depend on how much water is on the road before it would begin to suck any into the engine? Ex. its fine to drive the car when the road is wet and its raining but not when there are puddles of water on the road and its flooding, is there a line to draw when driving the car with this mod? Thanks with the help you give me on the question.

It will be allright as long as you don't hit a deep water puddle.

You will be fine.

If you want to be extra cautious, don't give it any throttle around big puddles.

I have a FTRA and driven it in the rain repeatidly without flooring it through puddles and all is well.

The FTRA is down near the air damn as well, where as the SLP CAI is up higher.

On my 97 I have the kit and then on top of that I have an a/c ducting scoop mounted in the black plastic thing under the fender.
It is a 3-4 inch wide by 8 inch long piece that hangs under my bird.
I have never had any issues with this set up.
Of course don't drive through 2 feet of water, that might be considered a bit silly

Jason if it worries you just do a different air lid and skip the C.A.I. After all how much more can you get by using the C.A.I. ?
