• I want one of the BEST sounding v6 out there

my 3.8 engine, with 56K miles.

SLP CAI
A cam* with Titatium Valves and Retainers
B&B TriFlow Exhaust
2.5' Cat
Electronic Cut-Out right behind the cat

*As far as the cam, not sure which to go with. Comp Cam or Lunati. I want the throatest exhaust note with no riceyness at any RPMs for my 3.8. Any suggestions?

Besides headers, what else should i get?

The cut out would only be opened at certain times. I should pass emmisions with the cut-out closed. I am going with the exhaust note over performance, meaning I want better mileage, Throaty exhaust with no buzz, looking forward to the "thumple". Far as performance gain, not much of a worry, as of yett.

Any videos of similar exhaust notes similar to what will be mine? I have searched but only saw completely stock exhaust systems with a cut out?

you want sound and you're going with a B&B? it sounds good, i guess. the best exhaust i've ever heard, and i bet other will say it, too, is stefans exhaust. headers, no cat, and 3" pipe going to a flowmaster. sounded amazing. can't wait to hear it again this weekend.

that cam is pussy. get something bigger.. no 3.8 v6 sounds good. dont try and tell my they do.. ive heard all kinds of mufflers with every possible pipe size combo.. no your flowmaster doesnt make it sound like a v8. idle its possible to sound like a v8. anything other than idle and its obvious

CAI added to my list

Come up with some specs for me.
u see what i want, driveability, milage, emmisions, and throaty exhaust note blah blah

i never stated I wanted it to sound like a v8, nor be a v8 nor that i wanted flowmaster lol, i simply stated i wanted the best sounding v6, most throatest, and no rice up on the RPMs. If i wanted a v8, i would have bought one, but college is comming up, and all i want is a loud throathy firebird.

I have heartd plenty of awesome sounding 3.8s. Don't come here and say a that NO 3.8 sounds good, i guess you never heard a GN. True a v6 can never sound like a V8 but they can sound dang near close, if not in some cases, better. SierraRider, i would say the best muffler to go with would be anything with chambers, ie: flowmaster, ravin, spintech, etc.
Click here to hear the flowmaster on my car (click on the flowmaster2 link once there). I do not have a cam but my mods are listed below.

That sounds great toast. I never knew a Flowmaster (more the Catco) would sound like that.
Imagine a Cut-Out Beofre the cat, and a CAI, and a Cam with that...

Again for my mods i am looking at....

again guys thats for the imput

Thanks. I can imaginw what my car would sound like if i had a cam and some headers. It would sound really sweet. :D I had the cutout before and i really did not like that much. It sounded really good down low, but it sounded like a twin engine plane up high. ;)

Get a supercharger in there. I plan to post a Quicktime vid of the one in my car next week. THe combination of exhaust, headers, whine and the blow off valve after WOT should sound really nice. Now all i need is to start an engine rebuild and get a cam

Yeah, i have the borla. I went with 3inches though. Its sounds really raspy on the high end. I hope that goes away with the blower, but... if i could do it all over again. i would do custom exhaust and get a flowmaster 80 series muffler.

i think my setup is going to sound really nice at WOT.

sorry tyler. heard the set up before. sounds terrible up top. i dont see why you people have such a problem realizing its a v6 and sounds like crap. get over it.

with forced induction it does sound better but no NA 3.8 sounds good.
