  • Anybody who has put 2000+ manifolds on a 95-99

I need info from anybody who has done this. I am in the process of doing this swap, and ran into a problem with the AC lines coming off of the compressor, and I don't remember anybody mentioning them being a problem.
Looking up the part numbers, I found that the 2000-20002 cars use a different hose assembly than the 98-99s.
My car is up on jacks, and has no manifolds or transmission, so I can't get it to a shop to vent the AC system and change the lines.
At this point, I'm putting the original manifolds back on, but is there any way to do this swap without installing the 2000+ ac lines?
I have a new y-pipe on the way from GM Parts Direct, and I need to decide really fast whether I'm going to keep it or send it back. The f***ing cost me $475, and I'm going to lose 20% of that if I return it.
This really p***** me off, the yahoos that did the exhaust design were a bunch of f***ing idiots, they could have used the tubular manifolds starting back in 95, or at least in 98
If you know how to do this swap on a 98 or 99 without changin those lines, e-mail me at streetgang52@hotmail.com
    Thanks.

well i think you should re-evaluate yourself. you spent 450 on a y pipe? LOL why not just get headers. 165 bucks for pacesetters plus shipping and you have headers and a y pipe. for maybe 200 bucks and they will flow better than the manifolds mainly because of the y pipe but then you can add headers to the precious mod list.

Yes, there is a problem. This was previously discussed.

If you can, well, afford to not spare the environment, just depress the AC schraeder and let the gas out. Why are you worried about that, though? sounds like the lines are already off, so the gas is likely loose. Just bolt the darn manifold up, what are you waiting on? Won't fit becuase of AC? bend the lines out of the way, that was the best advice I could find (I have tubulars manifolds, though not installed yet). Worst comes to worse, you remove a few components of the AC for a bit, then reinstall.
And I'll decline to comment on how much you spent.

Painful memories... send that y-pipe back. I remember when I inquired for that part number the description said it came with a cat. It's not worth it especially when a good exhaust shop can make you a new one. It seems like you've already come to the same conclusion that I did, but if you'd like to, feel free to get a hold of me via email or aim.
