• anybody tried one of those composite intakes from a fwd?

They look kind of like an LS1 intake.

Same hp and torque ratings as our aluminum one...

Just wondering if it would bolt up to the lower intake/heads.

Probably nowhere to put the fuel injectors though.

I checked on GMPartsDirect to see if the naturally aspirated 3.8 Grand Prix's had the same lower intake manifold as we do (3.8's) b/c that would be a neat mod, but the lower manifolds are different somehow b/c they have different part numbers. This is interesting though and I wonder if we could find a way to make it work, first of all b/c it would way less, it would be easier to port, and we could then use one of ZZP's high velocity throttle bodies on our cars!

This intake is designed with the intake/TB to the right (driver side) on a FWD car, which would be at the rear of the engine for a RWD car.

A few weeks ago I was looking at a Buick LeSabre, and the bolt holes looked symmetrical, like you could flip the manifold around...

But then I saw a picture of the bottom of one of these manifolds on ebay last night, and it looks like it has 4 water passages on one end, and one passage on the other end, so I'm thinking it's not reversible on account of the water passages, even if the bolt holes would allow it.

I was just wondering... (I do that too much sometimes)

The other reasons it won't work...

The intake passages are rectangular instead of tear drop shaped.

The tb outlet, instead of going around the alternator, would be pointed right at the alternator.

          So there you go...

Sorry for bringing this one back, but I would like to mention that they have the exact same plenum(unpper intake) manifold gasket. So it potentially could bolt right up, but the only question that remains is what direction would it be facing (firewall like mentioned above). Does anyone else know of any other reasons this would not work.
