lately i've had a tin on tin rattle type sound, and today I jacked it up, and it seems to be the outside skin of the cat. It does it mainly when driving, and not so much while ideling. What can I do? Is the cat bad, or is there a way to fix this.

Thats what happens with these catco cats, they tac weld the heat shields on, you could get it rewelded or just take it off. -

Seriously though, sounds like the heat shield which you probably don't need b/c it should already have heat shielding on the underside of the car.
