• Pipping Matter?

I was going to get a flowmaster 80 series w/2.5 inlet and a carsound cat and get 2.5 custom pipping.
1. Does it matter that the 2.5 piping is custom, will it stil be the same hp gains as any other piping that would have come w/a catback and will it sound the same as if I would have bought the american thunder exhaust?
2. What kinds of hp gains are we talking here?
3. And will it sound alot better then my present exhaust (flomaster 40 series single outlet, 2 1/4 piping w/stock cat)?

1) It should be, as long as they are done right at the bends.

2) Catbacks from stock everything usually free up about 10 hp, give or take a few.

3) I'm assuming the 80 series is dual outlet. Anytime you go with a larger pipe (and dual outlets?not sure if dual outlets has much to do with it?) it's going to sound deeper. I went from 40 Delta series on stock piping to the catback and now i can actually hear my car when I'm at a stop light and it sounds deeper (not much, but the intake is stock, along with stock cat).

Devilboy98 seems happy with his 40 series but most go with the 80 series for our cars. I don't think there will be a massive difference but I think you'll be happy.

1. As long as the custom pipe is MANDREL bent, it'll be the same. Otherwise, it'll be crush bent in the places it needs to be angled and the pipe will be a smaller diameter there. You want mandrel bent.

2. Hard to judge, probably around 10 rwhp over a stock system.

3. Probably a little deeper/louder.
