  • cat or no cat

I'm getting my headers put on soon and I wanted opinions on whether no not to keep the cat. Should I get a hi flow, stick with the stock cat, or get rid of the cat altogether. Be sure to keep performance in mind, and sound quality as well.

You probably can't find a place to take off the cat. It would be a hefty fine if they ever got caught ($10000 or more) and you could get upto a $5000 penalty too. Just because you may not have emissions doesn't mean that you don't need a cat...it is a federal law.

coincidentally, i was discussing this with a friend of mine today. we found out it's a $2,000 fine and possible jail time. just get a high-flow, or use stefan's "almost-a-cat" idea.

What he said. Use the almost a cat, dont just hollow it out. I put a straight pipe on my wrecked 94 before I knew about the fines. Most people in FL are doing the Straight pipe through the cat setup now so the pigs with mirrors can't tell.
