• Does a High Flow Cat increase sound?

I have flowmaster 80 series exhaust on my 3.4L and they are awesome. Sound sweet on idle, and NOT ricey on high rpms like 3.8L's.. anyways...

I am wondering if I add a high-flow cat, what will that do to the sound of my exhaust?

louder for sure, depending on how big u get, and maybe mroe high pitched at high rpm's.

The 3.4 60* naturally sounds better than the 3.8 90*.

I've heard that headers and some kind of CAI would deepen the sound while the highflow cat makes it louder.

That's what I've been told several times. So it must be true The only aftermarket exhausts I hear around here are Mustangs and trucks and 4 bangers. EVERY SINGLE camaro driving by in town has been stock...That I've seen.

WHen I get my catback, I'll be break ground ;)

Yeah, a high-flow cat is gonna make the sound more deep and throaty, not to mention add more HP.

If you're gonna go and install a cat, look around for some pacesetter header too.

I agree. It's just like the LT1 sounds better than the LS1. But we know which one outperforms the other!

Same here. I got my car registered in Illinois. Missouri has crappy laws.

Christian: gutting the cat is easy, although i cannot do it.... u take off the cat, get a rubber hamber, bang the walls up a bit, then u get some long metal rod and u put it in the opening and u hammer away the internals... after everything is done, u get a straight pipe.. pipe it through and weld it in place
