• This intake any good?

I was looking around for an intake but don't have much money and stumbled upon this intake, anyone know if its any good(any hp gain), read reviews from people who bought it from the guy, they mostly had positive things to say, but i rather get a better opinion from someone on this board, heres a pic:

Get a CAI intake. Like somthing that takes cold air from the fender. I recommend the SLP kit. I especially like the twin cone filters.

don't waste your money on that, if you are strapped for cash (me too, uni and all...), make a DIY one, its not as good as the SLP or K&N, but better than stock, using a 3 inch conical cone, 3 inch PVC piping, some plumbing couplings, and voila! an intake that takes cold air from the inner fender wall, check this site out

took me all of 60 minutes to do mine, and about $50 CDN, less if you have some spare PVC piping hanging around

don't hate on me for saying this, but i think it was pretty fun to basically make it myself from scratch, i design some of the ideas, then looked over atilla's site, which was the same, basically, it gives a lot better fuel economy, like 50+ KM to a tank for me, better power, and a really good feeling that i did it (although paint the PVC tubing black, my whites a bit weird lookin')

Three main things to look at with a cold air intake. First, an intake that can accept colder (or less hot) air. This is usually accomplished by relocating the filter to the inside of the lower fender well. There are some vents on the underside of the front bumper that can pull air from outside the car instead of the engine bay like this one--> Cheap-O
Second, you need to increase the flow of the intake. If you have a 93-97 your intake has some pretty restrictive bends. The K&N FIPK, Moroso "Honker", and SLP all used a smooth plastic or metal tube that has less nooks and crannies to snag the incoming air. When you do the swap, look inside the stock intake. Can you believe air ever made it through that at high RPMs?!!

Third, you need a higher flowing filter. Most aftermarkets use a cottom fabric-type filter instead of paper. Paper does, however, do a better job at filtering out particulates. But, we need FLOW!!! The more air you can cram into the cylinders, the bigger the bang, thus more power! You'll probably see increased gas mileage with this mod, too! :D

Lastly, my opinion. I've got the K&N and I love it. I've got a 3.4L and it really woke the engine up. It was pretty simple to install, took me about an hour. It's a bit easier if you have someone who can hold the upper half while you're underneath tightening the filter to the neck of the intake. A beautiful girlfriend works well! :D Also, the K&N makes this neat sucking/whinning sound when I accelerate. The factory intake had silencers to cancel this out. I'm glad I got rid of the stock box!! Good luck!

hmmmm. that just doesnt look right for some reason. maybe its the way the filter is angled. i would buy an SLP instead.
