I agree with hazmatt, physically speaking you cannot "ram" air into an engine @ normal car velocities (sub 300-450mph I'd say). You will reduce intake temperatures, but there will not be much if any of a pressure charge. Lots of flow, not much pressure.

I'm not saying its a bad kit though

I believe that it will show good results, take it to the track and dyno and let us know.

I let you know when the track opens in the beginning of April what the results are. I'll try the track version, the normal supersucker, and no CAI.

If you really want to make a science project out of it, you can get a differential pressure gauge, and just gauge the pressure difference between a point in the scoop intake, and a point in front of the original airbox intake. Doing the same with two thermocouples will show if you're taking colder air into the engine.

The presssure and temperature differences should correlate directly to the amount of "ram boost" you're getting. I might try this some day if I get motivated.

Trying not to hijack: I always wanted to use a differential pressure gauge to make a "draft sensor" - measure the DP at the nose and tail of a car, and as you start pulling close enough to another car at sufficient speeds, the DP should decrease, enabling a rough estimate of how well you're drafting them. The amount of thermo and fluid dynamics I've taken always has little ideas like this spinning through my head.
