  • Can a cracked exhaust hanger cause a rattle?

I've been noticing a vibrating/rattle/SOUND when I hit 1000 RPM (or maybe 1050, somewhere around there). This sound only happens at that RMP and if the RPM's go above or below that, it stops. I was changing out the plates on my Borla today and noticed that the black rubber connector that holds the passenger side pipe up looks to be cracked on one side. I wish I had a digital camera so I could take a picture of this. Could this be causing my rattle? Is this (possibly) cracked hanger a bad thing that I should look into replacing asap? How would I go about replacing this? Sorry that this is a lot of questions, just I don't want my Borla falling off while I'm driving down the road.

Either way you should replace it. So just do it and see if that is the problem.

Apparently my car has strange regenerative/healing powers. I looked at it today (in the NAPA parking lot trying to get a new rubber thingie) and the crack is almost gone. It seems smaller than it was yesterday, like now it's more like a scratch than a crack. Also, the sound that I assumed to be caused by the hanger is gone too. Weird...
