Hey I installed mine myself and I would recommend to anyone else doing this to not remove the starter, but definetely remove the shield around the starter and your spark plugs. The hardest part is cutting the tubing in front of the cat and working the header onto the driver's side, but if you remove that shield around the starter it makes it alot easier to get it in to position from under the car.

Other items . . before installing get a bolt and nut to secure the egr plate to the header ( it's hole is not threaded). Also the headers/ y pipe have a total of 3 o2 sensor bungs. If you still have your cat that will give you 4 o2 sensor bungs. I recommend getting a bolt to block the one on the y pipe off because it is an extra and it would be a waste of $60 to put another o2 there.

over all I'm happy with the quality of these headers.

Make sure to retighten the header bolts a few times. They will loosen themselves and you will develop leaks if you don't.

how does the ball joint flange work out? it seems weird. does it leak at all there?

and also my main concern. how easy to access ALL the spark plugs?

          Tyler,
          Um, first here you go...
          http://www.jet-hot.com/

For copper collector gaskets, you might be able to get them at AutoZone, I've seen them there before. Do we use 3 point or 2 point collector clamps?
Well, either way you should be able to get them at www.SummitRacing.com I think they run about 15 dollars.

do we have to have gaskets for the collectors as well???

or is it just an option?

Yeah you really need those. Or You'll have a leak. But those gaskets are what we are talking about. There isn't another set I was talking about. Flowtech is the one that makes copper collector gaskets.

If you also meant getting copper header gaskets (at the flange) you can do those as well. There are companies that make them, but I do not know which ones exactly.

Go to www.SummitRacing.com or www.jegs.com and order their free catalogs and thumb through them. You'll find what you are looking for.

I did use the paper gaskets. So far no leaks, except a little from the ypipe at the cat (gonna have that welded soon).

Changing spark plugs is now how it should be. I can do all the plugs from the top plenty of room.

ok my headers only came with the flange gaskets...

where can i get the collector gaskets?

or would it be best to weld them at the collector?

You don't need gaskets around the flanges, just the headers.

Yeah....you really don't. Pacesetters don't have flange collectors so there is no way in hell you would get a collector gasket to work. Ball and joint collectors....so only some high temp rtv is required.

may I suggest you guys putting on any headers do not use the ****ty paper ones PSH puts in with thier kits. Go out and buy a set of Felpro gaskets for the egr and the headers, they are made of metal and last a LOT longer, because u never will want to do the job again, trust me.

Um what the hell is a flange collector???

SpeedyVY, Rob: I know of no set of headers that does not recommend the use of gaskets at the flange. Do you know what the flange is?

The Flange is the section of the header in which the primary tubes are welded to the matched exhaust ports for the cylinder head - mounts flush. You are trying to tell me that you don't need gaskets there? Are you aware that is where 90% of all exhaust leaks take place - is at the flange?

Yes you do need gaskets there. They are normally called headers gaskets, although that description is misleading.

You show me one set of headers that doesn't need flange gaskets and does not leak as a result.

At over 1600 degrees, I don't think RTV sealant is going to cut it.

I used the felpro manifold gaskets and they leak, there not tight enough around headers.
