I was just curious, The Chiltons manual says that the 3.4L V6 has an AIR pump. Someone mentioned on here that it was only for the manual transmissions, Is that true? I have an Automatic, I have the fuse for it and everything and searched in the spots where it told me. But it was no where to be found. If there is one, Someone tell me where it is? Thanks..

Aka smog pump. Puts fresh air into the exhaust stream right off the manifold. It's supposed to help any unburnt fuel mix leaving the engine to continue combustion prior to reaching the converter. My mechanic friend just thinks they're a ploy by auto makers to reduce emissions output on paper. Mix some clean air with some bad air and you get bad air that isn't quite as bad...
On the 3.4 manual cars it's located below the ABS in the driver's side front of the engine compartment. If you still have the stock intake there'll be a hose coming off the plastic pipe down to the pump, that's where it draws the air from.1994 Firebird 3.4
15.65 @ 86.8
funkz.net/firebird
Timeslips
