• Back from loudmouth install

And it still is sitting in the trunk :(

My present set up is as follows:
Y pipe
Where the y pipe combines it is 3 inch
There is a 4 inch section of 3 inch diameter piping
it then reduces to 2.5 inch
then 2.5 inch in and out cat
then the s pipe is 2.5 inch NOT mandrel bent
the bends are slightly smaller than 2.5 inch
then the i pipe goes from 2.5 to 3 inch
then 3 inch edlebrock cat back

If we tried to do the loudmouth install most likely we would have left the s pipe alone, cut the piping just before the resonator on the new set up and install only a portion of the loudmouth.

I spoke with my exhaust shop for a while.
We decided the best way to go is start from scratch.
The y pipe is 3 inch so I will order a new 3 inch catco high flow cat from summit today and everything from the y pipe back will be brand new.

The diameter will increase from 2.5 to 3 inch.
All the bends will now be mandrel bend.

I have always sworn by 2.5 but it looks like 3 inch will be installed.
It will be insteresting to see what the difference will be in rwhp, rwtq, et and mph change.
Wouldn't it be funny if dyno numbers sky rocket??

I should be hitting the track n/a this weekend.

The loudmouth kit weighs 26 pounds

So, I ended up changing tires today
ET streets are thrown away
Nitto drag radials are thrown away
New bf drag radials are mounted on maro 16 x 8 salad shooter rims
I knocked off 1 pound vs 5 star 16 x 8 pontiac rims
245 50 radials are mounted on 5 stars and on the bird now
I'll be ordering et drags and weld rims as soon as the nitrous runs begin.

I think I am going to install my sparco evo seat now, I'll post results later

Loudmouth should be installed in the beginning of next week. I'm off mon, tues, and wed.
Basically as soon as the cat arrives I get the loudmouth installed.

Same thing happened to me. Thats how I decided to go ahead w/ the 3" HF cat-- when the shop said it would be MUCH easier to install with full 3" pipe everywhere. I think he said he would have had to cut part of the Loudmouth to get it to fit, which i didn't really want. Looking back i'm happy with the decision. :D

I'm really looking forward to seeing some dyno numbers, comparing this whole 2.5 - 3" thing. :D

I wanna hear what it sounds like on a 6.

I had a cutout with 3" piping on my 3.8 and it sounded nice.

Now I am waiting on an ORYP for my SS and we'll see how that combines with the loudmouth.

You talk about the salad shooters, have you ever thought of getting some of the metal rims that are behind the hubs? I bet that those might save about 10 lbs.

I'm confused on what you mean?
You are not talking about the drums are you?

I think he is talking about those old Basic package Camaro wheels with the hub caps on them, or at least they look like hub caps never paid to much attention to them. I think they are a lil heavier than the salad shooters though

it's gonna sound awful...but i think you should put some flanges put in between the y-pipe and s-pipe so when you go to the track, you can put a straight 3" pipe in place of the cat. that will allow much more flow, a little less weight, and better times i assume. get an o2 simm while you are at it, that way any false leaks around the flanges won't screw up your o2 readings.
