    Well are hearders really nessary when you have the tubulars already from the factory? I have heard a cars with and without headers with the same set ups and the both sound pretty much the same.

      How does it sound above 4k? Is the popping completely eliminated, or did you have it to begin with. It seems that people with the 3.8 who don't have the pop still have a ricey buzz. I will admit right now that mine pops big time

        I agree and disagree.

        The engine size is not what is important here, but cylinder size.

        If you do a comparison, a LT1 1.625" primary would be similar to a 1.5" on a 3.8. A 1.75" LT1, 1.65" on the 3.8.

        So it is my opinion that the 1.5" CIA is small and the RKSport large (but the better of the two options). What we need is a 1-5/8" primary header.

        I have not read in any thread what the Pacesetter primary size will be. Anyone?

          as soon as i learn more about auto math i'll be able to back this up more but i did talk with dave inall a lot from incon systems (they do a lot of twin turbo systems for ls1's and mustangs with incredible results) when i talked with him about a turbo system for my car i told him my goal was 450-500rwhp and part of what he said i needed was 1.5" primaries on the headers. now that may have been because i needed to keep the exhaust speed up to spin the t60 fast enough but still. 500 rwhp and he recommends 1.5" primaries has gotta say something. anyway that's all i got to back me up right now.
          i was swimming in the carribean. animals were hiding behind the rocks except for the little fish, but they told me the squid\'s trying to talk to me. oink, oink. where is my mind?

              I have a recommendation for recording exhaust clips....

              Attach a lapel microphone to the rear bumper with some masking tape, run the cable to a laptop, and start up a WAV recording program like Microshaft's "Sound Recorder". Set the recording quality to 16 bit 44kHz. Don't forget to compress the WAV's to MP3's before posting on the web! ;)

              Road/Wind noise will be a problem at higher speeds. I recommend putting a wind screen (should come with the mic) on the mic to help reduce road/wind noise.

                      hows this for a plan?

                      all that same that stefan has, but instead get a Z or SS muffler, and in the Z case open the exhuast inlet to 3", and put a cutout around the end of the straight portion of the I pipe...
                      taht way, you STILL HAVE good gains around town, and a nice rumble, but nothing ricey in the high RPM (i can make a sound clip of my Z exhaust)
                      and a cutout to unleash hell when you want ;)

I said yes then he said He will run me when he get his turbos on!! I thought that was funny seeing a guy in a viper wimp out from a run against a firebird..

                          HAHAHA i had missed that story Jeff definatley classic. and about the exhaust.... I DEFINATLEY say THE BEST sounding v6 EVER. :D

                            I'm another witness to agree that Stefans car does sound awesome as a whole package with the blower. I'm not a big flowmaster fan but it does sound good on his car.

                            I ran a Decoma 3" catback for 5 years, I recently sold it. It was a rare exhaust to have and I got one of the last ones in stock. It sounded great but not near as good as a Borla.

                            After reading this whole thread I find it funny nobody mentioned a Borla. Today I returned from the exhaust shop with a new Borla installed to a 3" off road pipe and the RK Sport headers.

                            Totally different sound, it got rid of a lot of that raspy/ricey top end and just sounds plain awesome. I am extremely happy with the Borla and would highly suggest it. Yes I know it's expensive but worth every penny I spent on it.

                            I should be able to go out and do some runs with the video camera soon and record some sound/video.

                              Well some of us cannot afford a Borla Catback, so therefore we need something else. I need to know which catback I need with a RKSport Headers/SLP CAI setup? I dont want Loud, I want nice sounding. I dont plan on changing my cat so I want a 2.5 exhaust or a 2.75 if they make one? WHICH BRAND?!
