sounds cool but i gotta disagree about your CIA headers statement. you say that the primaries are too small. the cia headers have a 1.5" primary while the rksport headers have 1.75" primaries. the standard lt1 headers are 1.625" primaries and heavily modded ones get 1.75" primes. the ls1 which makes considerably more power than the lt1, most header manufacturers make them 1.75" primes. do you think the 3.8 flows comparably to the ls1? there is no need for large primes like that it's just going to slow the exhaust down to much. i think that's why the rksport headers just give 3-5 horsepower while i think the cia give at least 10-15 horsepower. i just wish i could have gotten a good dyno to prove it. i did prove 6 horsepower gain with about 800 rpms to go from the previous dyno. but that's jsut my opinion till i get a good dyno(which probably won't happen since i'm jobless and bought a cam even though i shouldn't have.)

Don't think you can find anything better or cheaper... because you can't. This exhaust setup is tried and true, tested on a legend and approved by the best. It has been described as "the friggin best sounding V6 I've ever heard!" by James "12secondV6" Dowles,
I still say this is BY FAR THE BEST sounding V6 f body I have EVER heard!!!!
It is a perfect match of exhaust, engine and blower. If we had a worship smiley I'd be using it now!!Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

Good set up, but there has to be something more free flowing than a flowmaster...*MATT*
98 Camaro SS #1767 A4
Artic White
Not stock...
Former car:
96 Firebird Y87 A4
Bright Red
Wasn\'t stock...

My exhaust right now doesn't sound like a chainsaw. I actually sounds good around 3300+Rpms cause the Delta cancels out the sound. THe problem, as i said before is that smooth but higher pitch drone/moan between 2k and 3k...(like a 4 banger) which, unforunetly, I spend most of my time in. I was planning on getting the AT with resonator but am afraid of the same smooth drone.

I have that drone a 2200 rpms and at 3k and it does not sound like a 4bager. My drone is very deep and in your ear espally at 2200. I really like makes it sound like a quiet 5.0. Anything above 3500 though and the sound totally changes but not in a bad way just different. Hard to discribe but the best i have told is its sounds like a twin engine plane, but taht is mostly with the cutout open.

ultimate exhaust, maybe...ultimate price, never :\
sorry, but does it really SOUND like 1000 bucks?
I mean, no doubt it sounds good, but like 1000 bucks?
How's long tubes, with 1 5/8" primaries, 2.5" Y pipe, into single 3" sound? into a flowmaster 40 single in/out muffler sound?
i figure the cost will be around... 250 for all long tube supplies (yes i'm doing it myself, oops, i just leaked a project), 60 for the cat, 100 for the I pipe, and I paid 60 for the muffler already...
470 bucks...might sound like it's worth about 500 i hope2011 Camaro LS 6M, in black.

It drones. Then from 3000rpm it has this nice gurgle up to about 4200rpm, then bzzzzzzzzzz. Honda.
Never pops though (warmed up), even when revving.

Why does everyone seem to be stuck on flowmaster? I thought it was common knowledge that id didn't flow nearly as well as other set ups.*MATT*
98 Camaro SS #1767 A4
Artic White
Not stock...
Former car:
96 Firebird Y87 A4
Bright Red
Wasn\'t stock...

Stefan has the beast sounding flowmaster exaust I have ever heard.. It still has the v6 sounding above 4000 rpm but It sounds incredible below 4000.. It sounds better then LT1 or LS1 with headers and full exaust.. I am right behind you man.. all I need now is the ported heads and our exaust should be close to each other.. Are you and Jenn coming back down to the beach at all this spring or summer?? It would be cool hanging out again.. only this time we can have the BBQ at my apartment..Jeff ..

BB tri flow sounds the best as a cat back
Stefan's car as a whole (engine, blower, lower compression, full exhaust) sound unbeatable as a package!

Someone else mentioned this above also.
Flowmaster is a true muffler, it is not a "wide open" straight pipe resonator with muffling effects like a Magnaflow or a Cherry Bomb. Yes, Flowmaster does produce more backpressure than a straight-through muffler.
But...
The 3.8 needs some backpressure. If the pipes are 3" the entire way through and you have the RKSport headers that I prefer over CIA (sorry Deuce, personal preference. ;) ), you'll need the backpressure that the Flowmaster provides.
That page does not say "Flowmaster alone is the best", it says "using all of these parts together is the best". I have met a lot of V6 owners since I installed that system in early 1999. I have heard a lot of Flowmasters on both the 3.4 and 3.8. I agree with what many people here say--by itself it sounds ricey at high rpm, it drones, yada yada. Alone, a Flowmaster is not all that great.
But... combine it with the rest of the components listed on that page and it sounds fantastic. A lot of the aforementioned V6 owners have given my car major props for sounding incredible. Countless times I've had to actually pop my hood because people think it's an LT1.
And finally, the blower does not make any difference as far as exhaust sound goes. I've been running N/A all winter (been working on that kit, sssshhhhhh) and it sounds the same. Granted, the whine is not there but the roar is. ;)
I didn't make that page to say everything else sucks... rather, I just made it as an example. That setup has gotten props from many people, I'm just sharing what worked for me.
Sound clips are a must, I'm going to see about that once this friggin' snowstorm goes away.
