Ok, I installed a Borla cat-back today and it sounds awesome...at certain RPM's. But once I get above 2k or 2.5k RPM, the sound is too loud for my taste inside the car. Is there a way I can make it quieter in the car? I'm just thinking that this will drive me crazy on the interstate. I have a box of Dynomat (the sound insulation stuff) sitting in my room and I'm thinking about layering the storage well with that to see if it helps. If anyone out there knows how to make it quieter inside the car (not outside :D ), please let me know.
thanks,
Rob

You don't get exhaust to make it quieter. I'm not sure, but I think the Dynomax is a little quieter and more mellow, but again I'm not COMPLETELY SURE. You will get used to it. The drone can be irritating at first, but get a cutout, open that for a few days and drive around, then close it again. I guarantee you the muffler will sound quieter then!!

the dynamat will help. put it along the back, on the floor of the cargo area, as well as up behind the rear seat, over the wheel wells, and where the spare tire/jack go. also, keep the rear cover thingy up so there's something else there to keep the sound out. perhaps a louder stereo system would help too :D . umm, if that doesn't help enough, just cover any and all area's behind u and the front passenger seat w/ dynamat and hope for the best.

Yo. LIke If you wanna quiet it down the Dynomat is the way to go. um however I wouldnt buy dynomat, I have about 100sq feet of ( other mat ) same material diff name) about 70sq ft will do the whole car once. Heres the deal. Most people dont get the affect that they should outta this stuff cause they dont take the time to really really do it right. Do your trunk of course, but take out your spare ( If you still have it in ) and line all the side walls, take out all the carpet and line every part of the car that is parelle with the road and everything you can get at that is perpendicual. ( or however that is spelled ) ESPECIALLY DO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR OFCOURSE!. Covering the Cat converter hump and the trail of the exhaust will do you the most good. but your best bet is to sit in your car and rev it up and listen to where the sound is really coming from and try to figure out what works best to deflect it. I have a cut out which is about 2x louder than a flowmaster at the right rpm, and vibrates everything in the interior much more - with correct placement I am now quieter ( on the inside ) than stock. But it takes a lot of mat. Remember what they advertise, its something like 2 layers is 3x as effiecent they werent kidding.
Well, it's raining today and I didn't want to try to mess with the Dynomat in the rain. I did, however get under the car and check out the plate that was in...it wasthe nearly entirely open plate . Anyways, I put the entire block off on the cutout and it sounds quieter. I won't get another chance to do the Dynomat until spring break (week and a half), so if I havn't grown acoustomed (spelling is a bad thing) to the sound yet, I guess I can start pulling the interior and Dynomatin' it up then.
Thanks for the suggestions about where to mat it and whatnot,
Rob

Dynomax is an excellent muffler that isn't loud until you "get on it." What I don't understnad though is why get a muffler if you don't want to put up with the noise. Plus nothing that the RADIO can't fix.
